  1. I think you're right, but Cutler is going to be amazingly expensive. Rivers is very likely to get a larger contract than Eli did and if Cutler has a good to great season and leads the Bears into (or especially deep into) the playoffs, he'll probably get more than Rivers. He'll be worth it, though. spending a lot of money on cutler is probably just as good as spending a lot of money on 4-5 pretty good defensive players.
  2. that's sad, and depressing.
  3. I know CJ, he's in my backyard practically. He gave up baseball for football. As a Soph. in HS was 86-89. Just an amazing athlete. It'll be interesting how he does at Johnsburg next year, their QB will be playing baseball down at Miami and Johnsburg's FB coach (as well as the basketball, wrestling, and AD) was fired for stealing. That's a great pick-up for U of I. He should've played baseball his Junior and Senior seasons. i heard somebody say that he's a pretty good basketball player, too.
  4. the bears released him because of his off-field issues.
  5. I referenced this a few days ago. I don't know where these stats are coming from though. Id like to see how he comes up with these numbers. You'd think with these 2 interior lineman along with Kruetz that the Bears would be sweet with short yardage interior runs. All i remember last year is RT calling smashmouth short yardage runs plays and the running back or FB looking at a wall of asses with no where to go. Forte was good if they strung the play out and allowed him to find the hole but relying on the line to make a hole by one on one blocks was futile. well, perhaps he's accounting for the 11 defensive players in the box.
  6. dez knows that he's getting older in a young man's game, he knows that the bears gave him the opportunity to start and he repaid them for that chance. he also understands that it's olsen's time and that there is still a place on the team for both of them.
  7. kruk just said that's why you throw stats out----because marmlo got a save for that. kruk doesn't know the difference between different stats.
  8. why do they call this [expletive] sea bass?
  9. yeah, you might as well not swing at all against marmol, you can't hit it.
  10. then weight them. but then you also have to account for the o-line, too. then it becomes really subjective. And we've once again gotten to the point where we have to acknowledge that football doesn't easily lend itself to statistical analysis. too many moveable parts.

  12. Sure they give him an advantage, but it's not like it's an unfair advantage, it's a strength of his game. yeah, it doesn't make much sense to penalize his ability as a receiver. nobody penalizes westbrook's ability as a receiver when they call him the best all-around back in the game. i'm not going to be a player-hater and say that i prefer forte to peterson, but i'm very satisifed with the RB position going into the season.
  13. kind of tough to surprise anybody when you're wearing the orange jersey, though.
  14. i don't see how it can be viewed as unreasonable to think that a player in the national hockey league can play until he's 42. i'm no lawyer, but it doesn't seem like the league's case would stand up in court. the league seems angry and understandably so, but if retirement wasn't discussed, i don't see how the blackhawks could be punished for anything. but then again it's unsettling to think that maybe tallon's firing wasn't just over the rfa's.
  15. it looked like he was itching to take him out, though. Eh, I think he was just running real hard and acidentally bumped him. LMAO @ BOB "Uggla may have just saved nunez' life right there. Koyie Hill would break him into about a thousand pieces" he was leaning like a sprinter at the tape. i would have liked to have seen it, though.
  16. it looked like he was itching to take him out, though.
  17. we don't win against the marlins. there's no explanation for it at all, one of those cosmic irregularities. derrek lee goes yard, but it will be that much more bittersweet when we blow it.
  18. seriously, does anybody have our record against the marlins since 2004? i'd be interested to know if we've won a single game.
