  1. and that'll do it. haha tom crean gets a bench warning for complaining when his team has been in the double for 15 minutes.
  2. and that, my friends, is why myke henry has gotten much tick this year
  3. the sad thing is that illinois has outplayed indiana by a lot in this game and the refs have been a huge difference
  4. 6, and they didn't get down the court
  5. let's count how many times in a row down the court iu gets bailed out with a foul call while we get zero. it's like at 5 right now
  6. how many free throws is the really ugly zeller brother going to get? [expletive], indiana was in the double bonus with 15 minutes to go, what a [expletive] joke
  7. but if it comes down to picking jeffery, then i want mike adams instead.
  8. i'm telling you that AJ Jenkins can play
  9. i want a big receiver, a big target that can make plays and doesn't fall down. i think that would be the most important thing to me, "guy who doesn't fall down in front of the DB"
  10. sign gaither or sign v jackson and then go opposite in the first. this seems a really easy fix. the bears are in a great position to really improve themselves and contend for a super bowl.
  11. wait, that's not austin's mom because she's white, right?
  12. eat a dick roy
  13. I've never heard the Coryell style referred to as West Coast. Every time I've heard west coast offense it has been describing the Bill Walsh, high completion percentage/passing game used as a replacement for the running game style. Wiki it. Hah, I did after I wrote that. Kind of a pointless article, everybody knows what WCO is, and it's not what Martz was doing. it's essentially what the greatest show on turf was
  14. Comparing the passer ratings across eras isn't the best way to do it because of how much the game has changed. Terry Bradshaw's 84.7 QB rating in 1978 doesn't look that good until you realize it was the second best in the league that year. Eli Manning's career high of 93.1 in 2009 looks great compared to that until you realize that it was only good enough for 11th in the league.Troy Aikman's 89.5 QB rating was the second-best in the league in 1992 but would have only been 11th this year. You have to compare Eli to the other QB's who are playing now. He's been top-10 in passer rating once (7th in 2011) and in completion percentage once (9th in 2010) while being top-7 in interceptions thrown five times in his seven seasons. He's been top-10 in TD's six times and passing yards four times in seven years but he's also throwing a ton of passes (top-10 five times). Unless you're completely terrible (which no one would argue Eli is) throwing a lot of passes is going to turn into a lot of completions and touchdowns. Rodgers, Brees, Brady, Romo and Stafford were all clearly better than Eli this year. Roethlisberger and Rivers were slightly worse this year but have been far better over the past five years. Schaub was on his way to having a better year before getting hurt and he's also been better in the past (four straight 92+ QB rating years). And if we're looking at the past few years, we have to include Peyton in there also as being better. So now we're looking at having eight guys (excluding Stafford since he's only had one full, good year) who have clearly been better than Eli over the past 3-5 years. Guys who were, at best, the ninth best at their position while they played aren't HOF worthy. of that group, the 2 guys who have multiple super bowls will likely be in the hall of fame.
  15. What's interesting are the reactions of the posters at the House of 'Paign Hoops Fan Forum, on the whole I would classify them as denial. Many of them refused to admit Weber' record the last 7 years is average at best, excuse after excuse is written for Weber. With Chicago as a recruiting ground there's no reason Illini shouldn't be in tournament every year. there's only like 3 of them, but they keep posting for some reason.
  16. theo to the rescue with the history lesson
  17. I don't think the OC split was that big of a deal. But I think the Tice offense will be pretty close to what Martz ran with changes in protections and hopefully maximizing the strengths of his players (QB, WRs, TEs, Forte). Tice comes from a similar background as Martz, while Bates is a west coast offense guy. Hopefully, Bates has some say as Cutler in a WCO has been/would be lethal. it's my understanding that the protections were all tice, if anything remains the same, it will be the protections. martz is a disciple of the guy who invented the west coast offense.
  18. i am perfectly fine with tice being the OC and Bates being just a quarterbacks coach. that's the best case scenario, really. i was never too keen on having guys split the OC job and I think that's something that emery must have realized too. and while tice looks like a meathead, he's really not and i think the fact that people have been trying to interview him since he came to chicago is telling as to how he's seen around the league. he also doesn't appear to be a super strong type-a personality that demands his QB conform to his offense and never improvize. i think my hope is that he's not just planning on running anything close to the martz offense. we need to put the spotlight on jay, and to do that he needs to be given structure and control. and some weapons + jared gaither.
  19. if the chicago kids are all talking about jumping ship, weber is gone.
  20. 1. chris mack 2. shaka smart 3. anthony grant my only real problem with shaka is his ties to wisconsin
  21. Unless they finish the season strong, which is highly unlikely based on their schedule, I think they will be a tough sell for the tournament. w In order for Illinois to go forward I hope they don't, Weber' not the answer, he's out excuses, even with talent, we get the crap we saw today. Why does he refuse to play Henry, Shaw and Egwu? i think we'll have to fire weber to keep them here, rather than the other way around.
  22. i don't see them making it at 8-10 if they get there. we are in the last days of disco here
  23. there's a lot of smoke about it, and not just from fans, from media sources.
  24. also, jon shurna may be the ugliest player in basketball since that iverson kid at minnesota
