    The Iowa game has been...interesting. Ronny Cedeno was at bat, and a man scored from 2nd on two consecutive passed balls. Also, Patterson scored on a Pie triple in the second. Iowa is up 10-3 in the 5th.

    ? I guess I'm the only one being bombarded with cheapbooks.com hot chick ads. Download Firefox and get Ad Block Plus Yeah, I'm not going to firefox as my main actual browser, though if such a plugin exists for opera, I'd be all over it. Why Opera over Firefox? Because for the way I browse, opera is much, much more friendly. I usually have 15-20 pages open at all times. When I close it for rebooting or whatever, it opens back up in exactly the same spot. It's also a hair faster in my experience. If you just turn off your computer without manually shutting down firefox, it will ask you the next time you open firefox if you want to restore the last session. It will open up however many tabs in however many windows you had before and automatically pull up the pages they were on. The key is to not close firefox yourself, let windows kill it during the shutdown/reboot process. That's nice but it's not good enough. I also have several different window sets for when I'm browsing for different things (shopping, graphic design, audio editing, etc.) that I can just pull up whenever I get ready to browse for those things . it's better than a simple bookmark because one save keeps an entire series of pages open, and in the same spot where I left off.

    i think that a pitcher we've signed to a sizeable three year deal is pretty much guaranteed to be on "a roster by all-star break", but that's just me. Um, he was talking about a fantasy team roster.

    Who are all more valuable than the slap-hitting Figgins. What can Figgins do that Theriot can't, anyway? Nevermind that, since when do those four players represent an archetype? They aren't even very similar at all, other than being white. Now, if he's saying that Murton projects to be a caucasian, then I'd have to agree wholeheartedly.

    Why are people making the fallacious argument that saying the Cubs could be better is like saying they have a better record now? Obviously that's not the case.

    Of course not. But that wasn't the point. The point is that there's still 4/5ths of a season to go, and so it's rather illogical to declare one team definitively better than the other based on current records. The Brewers have been better to date, of course. The rest is yet to be deterimined. Yet to be determined, but not subject to some random selection process. The Brewers have a huge advantage. They started the season as the favorite according to many, and at the very least along the same lines as the Cubs. They'd have to fall back to a .527 pace (85 win season) to only finish with 90 wins, and .489 (79 wins) to win only 85. Comparisons to last year's Reds are pointless and completely invalid. This is a deep, quality team that is winning everything they should win and not giving away anything. The Cubs may be just as deep and talented, but their losses are in the bank and they can't get them back. Who said it was some random selection process? And the comparison is not invalid at all, since it was to illustrate that record 1/5 of the season alone does not make one team better than the other for the long haul.
