  1. Why the hell are you breaking out splits? Murton was productive last year. Floyd was not. It's freaking simple. There's no need for clarification......................... So you'd agree that Jacque Jones was productive last year and there's no need to break out splits? WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING Good Lord.
  2. Santana's in the race, still. Third in ERA, only 2 wins behind. Looking that up, though, made me go HOLY CRAP AT HOW GOOD Erik Bedard has been. He's basically been Santana, only with a few more walks and even more strikeouts.
  3. As a Hogs fan, this year scares the poop out of me. To much potential coupled with so many question marks. Hopefully either experience, system, or greater physical skill prevents them from getting Dicked around at QB. Monk's out for a while. Hopefully they won't need him against 'Bama, because that's a really dangerous game. I think the line will be fine--it usually is, and the best lineman they had plays Center and returns. I also think having a healthy Peyton Hillis will make a big difference in the passing game, as he was sorely missed down the stretch last season. As for the D, Jamaal Anderson, Sam Olajubutu, and Chris Houston will be tough to replace, as will Keith Jackson Jr. But they've got a great deal of depth returning on the line, so while they may not be as strong, they won't likely fall off tremendously. Hopefully Antwain Robinson has stepped up his game and is ready to become a real primetime player on one end. At LB, having Fairchild back should help with teh loss of Sammy, but he's got big shoes to fill. He's the most athletically gifted LB they've had in years, though. Michael Grant returns after a torn ACL to take over at S or possibly even CB if needed. I like Norton and Richardson at the corners, though I think they're both #2 guys. Here's hoping one of them steps up. All in all, it's a defense that could be near the top of the league or around the middle of the pack, depending on health and the development at a few key positions. I can't really begin to predict a finish. 8-4 should be the abosolute worst they shouold do, but think the team is capable of 10-12 wins with their schedule. With the question marks, though, it makes it hard to pick them certainly at Alabama, hosting Kentucky (especially if Monk is still out), hosting Auburn, at Tennessee, or especially at LSU. What I really want to see is the Hogs use their non-conference schedule to really work on exploring the passing game. Other than Troy, none of the other teams are even vaguely a threat, so get your QBs some extra reps in those games! Babbling over.
  4. Unbelievable. Jose Offerman hit a home run?
  5. wow at this thread. No slumpbusters here!
  6. good stuff there Patterson also picked up his 15th and 16th steals, and scored 2 runs. Pie had a run and an RBI. What is wrong with the Cubs? Why is the best catcher in the organization at AAA?
  7. Without reading the Inside The Ivy, just from the free blurb at the link I think the "Cubs Prospects Absent" headline refers to Cubs being absent from this year's list of suspended players. The caption for the picture says "Cubs prospects have been in the clear this season". Actually, i think it means they haven't been in the clear.
  8. "Gallagher contains Bees" has got to be my favorite headline ever.
  9. This is the worst kid's book ever.
  10. Last night? Here? Holy crap. :/
  11. the gap between "hot" and "would hit it" is very wide for some of us For most of us.... shoot all of us. Not me! :D
  12. Was that after the 1st inning? He hit 88-89 last year at Peoria and by the 4rd was down to 83-84. The...4rd?
  13. I really don't get where national background has anything to do with anything here.
  14. I was wondering why anybody would want to pitch around somebody to get to Cedeno. 0-4 tonight, but still.
  15. with the game tied 2-2, and men on 2nd and 3rd, bottom 9, no outs, they...intentionally walk Eric Patterson to get to Cedeno? And then, naturally, gameday freezes.
  16. Nothing at all to do with baseball, but it seemed appropriate to link this.
  17. Wow. Cedeno goes 3-4. Patterson goes 1-4 with his 11th homer.
  18. So where exactly is earth2, anyway?
  19. It will be magnificent. It, after all, has me in it.
  20. I'm just going to watch.
  21. And only an hour and seven posts late!
  22. I would love to see an explanation of how Cedeno went 0-4 with 3 RBI.
