I don't understand the degree of love for Nas. At all. I mean, dude is nice, but people talk about him like there's something spectacular in his style, and I never hear it when I hear Nas. Also, the dude secretes pseudointelligence. As for Wayne, I liked him best during the Cash Money days when I couldn't escape them on the radio. He's grown into a formidable artist, but I have a hard time letting go his tendency to follow a strong line with some stupid crap. Nice, but clearly NOT the best rapper alive. If I were to name off dudes from the top of my head that would school him, I'd run out of fingers and toes. TI, for me, is one of those "not my type but I gotta respect his work" type of dudes. He's actually pretty well rounded. Can't really say much since I'm not particularly a fan and rarely listen to radio, but most of what I've heard has been solid and appreciable. How in the hell did Lupe get on this list? Not saying he's bad (far from it), but he's nowhere near the others in terms of sales or prolificness. He has one notable album and a couple of hit songs. What is the criteria for this "best in the game" critique, anyway? Most skillful? Best body of work? Most successful? I can't think of any in which Lupe deserves mention as a potential top five at all. I guess out of the above listed, I have to go Jay-Z by default, even if dude's last album came straight from his rectum onto cd platters. Again, it's hard to get all excited about rappers when I know/am rappers better than them.
