  1. IMO this guy has maxed out his body. Just a few years ago he was only like a 230lb basketball player. And just three years ago Jamaal Anderson was a 215 lb. wide receiver.
  2. I like Detroit's pick. Alama-Francis is a very intriguing guy with a great, projectable body. I look at him as Jamaal Anderson lite--same kind of body and upside without nearly the production. Not bad in the late second, IMO. I can certainly understand the workout warrior criticism, though.
  3. Dolphins pick in three picks. Who's the top rated OL? They should pick him.
  4. Wow, Arkansas back-to-back. I like what Atlanta's done for their defense a lot, even beyond my obvious bias. I was wondering if Atlanta would take Ugoh and make it three-for-three. Oh, well. Maybe they'll draft Anthony Brown or Sam Olajubutu on the secon dday.
  5. I don't care much for Jarrett at all, but Quinn/Rice would've been nice. I don't have a problem at all with the Beck selection, though.
  6. Dolphins up shortly. (well, as shortly as anything is in this draft.) with WR pretty well knocked out, I'm looking at OL and QB at this point.
  7. How about Miami with Ginn? ohh yeah...forgot about that gem. I really like Justin Harrell, not sure how badly they need a DT but that's a really talented kid. I think Ginn was a reach pick and not a need pick either. Poor move there. I don't understand when people say this. Ginn was not the #2 WR in this draft, and is in fact still very raw as a WR. He is a good return man, but I think Yamon Figurs is just as good as him if not better, and he'll go middle of day 2. And what does that have to do with what I just said?

I think Ginn was a reach pick and not a need pick either. Poor move there. I don't understand when people say this. What do you mean? Do the Dolphins really need a WR? I didn't think they did. EDIT: oops, got my replies mixed up. Wes Welker led the Dolphins in receptions last year. Booker was servicable. Chambers was invisible for large parts of the season. Welker is gone. The Dolphins struggled mightily at getting big plays downfield. No, it was not all quarterback play that did it. The defense is largely fine, and I don't know why everybody thinks that's the utmost priority, though it could stand to get younger at the front four.

I think Ginn was a reach pick and not a need pick either. Poor move there. I don't understand when people say this. The Dolphins don't need a WR. They needed a QB or Defense. Wrong.

  11. Ginn was not the #2 WR in this draft, and 9th overall is way too high to be drafting a return man. So who was? Bowe? Most places I've looked have had Ginn rated above Bowe and Meachem.
  12. He definitely ranks up there behind Leinart dropping to #10 last year. You guys do realize that Marques Colston was drafted last year, right? So what? We're talking about draft value. Colston never had the potential to make $40 million guaranteed like Quinn would have. Whoever picks Quinn now will literally be saving millions on top of millions of dollars. If you can find another person posting that though of "draft value" in that sense when you brought it up, I'd be shocked.
  13. Ginn was a surprising pick, but I don't see why so many people are calling it "amazingly horrible" or whatever. The Dolphins need somebody for a quarterback to throw to. Youth and speed are very much needed in the receiving corps. A rookie QB would be very unlikely to play immediately, and Quinn's greatest trait is his NFL-readiness: If not for that, he'd almost certainly be ranked much lower based strictly on physical gifts and technique. A Trent Green trade seems a foregone conclusion at this point. And with Wes Welker gone, the Dolphins are also in need of a return man. The pick of Ginn, while surprising, makes a lot of sense in my eyes. I can se disagreeing with it, but the degree puzzles me.
  14. Never ceases to amaze me how people interpret "give the guy who has a chance to be above average a chance to play over proven mediocrity" into "x young player is a future 8 time MVP."
  15. In April? Damn straight.
  16. Man, the fatalists are hilarious.
  17. The words below average was describing his defense, not the overall player. On this team he should be getting the starts until there is someone better to take them from him. Floyd certainly isn't the answer but I don't think it's an outrage that Murton isn't getting the starts. Is Murton really a below average LF? He's hardly the best defender I've ever seen out there, but there aren't many good defenders in LF. Partial list Chris Duncan Adam Dunn Carlos Lee Moises Alou Pat Burrell Luis Gonzalez Barry Bonds Raul Ibanez Garrett Anderson Manny Ramirez All of those are worse defenders than Murton, and some by a great deal (Duncan, Dunn, Manny, Burrell) That floor is a huge distance from the ceiling. What's the gold standard in left now? Scott Podsednik? Carl Crawford? Hideki Matsui? Murton is definately closer to those three than he is to Ducan, Manny, Dunn, or Burrell. Again, I never said he was a below average left fielder. I said he is below average defensively, as most left fielders are. When he starts hitting like Adam Dunn I'll stop worrying about his defense. ...if you're not comparing him to other left fielders, who ARE you comparing him to?
  18. THis is just ridiculous. If he had said "crazy" or "absurd" or something of that ilk, there'd be no reaction, but because he used a different synonym, you associate it with slang or something.
  19. Aren't times like this when we need entertainment most, to take our minds off of being completely overwhelmed in sadness?
  20. With the seventh pick in the third round of the 2007 NFL draft, the Miami Dolphins select Drew Stanton, QB, Michigan State.
  21. With the 28th pick in the 2nd round of the 2007 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins select Ikaika Alama-Francis, DE, Hawaii.
  22. I'm quite amazed that anybody expected this to go any faster than it has.
  23. The Miami Dolphins select Sidney Rice, WR, South Carolina. They get their potential #1 receiver in the second round to help infuse youth into an aging receiving corps. With Booker, Chambers, and Hagan ahead of him at the outset, there's no pressure on him to perform right away, so he can continue to develop.
  24. With the 9th pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins select Levi Brown, OT, Penn St. The Dolphins have been looking for a left tackle for a decade, and Brown could be the one. DL and WR are also options, but the Dolphins feel that the talent drops off at those positions less swiftly than on the OL, so they take the value pick here.
  25. Allspark link? I thought you were that Wheelimus, but I was never sure...
