  1. BP predicts the NL wild card winner with an average of 88.2 wins over one million simulations of the remainder of the season.
  2. But he'll be back in September to pick up that time. September time doesn't count. If he has less than 130 at bats he will still be considered a rookie next year. I don't know about for Rookie of the Year consideration, but September still counts toward service time towards arbitration and free agency. I'd be very very upset if the Cubs demoted Murton just so he'd be in contention for an award next year. From the MLB rulebook: Determining rookie status: A player shall be considered a rookie unless, during a previous season or seasons, he has (a) exceeded 130 at-bats or 50 innings pitched in the Major Leagues; or (b) accumulated more than 45 days on the active roster of a Major League club or clubs during the period of 25-player limit (excluding time in the military service and time on the disabled list). He'll be a rookie next year.
  3. C'mon.. Neifi Perez AB.. why wouldnt it work?? Hey, I think it would have been a great call !! But the squeeze just isn't in Baker's arsenal for some reason. For the last time: Dusty Baker has said publicly that he does not squeeze. Ever.
  4. Dude. he got a pitch to hit and hit it stright at someone. I'm not a Corey fan by any means, but you're being ridiculous.
  5. Someone needs to sticky the Grant Johnson Q/A
  6. Slightly off-topic, but a package that included Giles and (I can dream) Mark Loretta is about the only way I'd consider dealing Maddux. It could be a win-win situation: we get the offense (including baserunners with BRAINS) and good D, and Greg gets his numbers down and wins up a little in pitcher-friendly Petco, which is also in the same time zone as home. The SoCal house could become Maddux family HQ during the baseball season. Do you mean this as a deal to be done now? Giles and Loretta are both FAs after this year, and SD is curently in the NL West lead, so what incentive do they have to get rid of Giles and Loretta? And especially for Maddux?
  7. Wait, the Red Sox left fielder is the best at playing balls off the Green Monster? Wow! It's almost as if it's his home park or something. Forgive me for not giving him any additional credit for being able to play hops off the wall he stands in front of every day.
  8. Go to Italy or France, too, and you'll see the same. Edit - it sounded like an insult. I lived in Italy for half a year. The Italians are decent drivers, it's just that they don't actually have any sense of what's safe or not.
  9. Nah, a farmer in overalls would be better. Outside of the Chicagoland area, Illinois is mostly cornfields. yeah, but I was thinking that he could eventually snap like Michael Douglas in Falling Down.
  10. I thought it was Illinoisans? And you forgot the bad driver part. Believe me, people from Illinois are not that bad of drivers. Go to New Jersey or Ohio for a little while and you'll realize that.
  11. i'm in
  12. Give me a break. With our lineup? Things must be bad in Cubland. I don't like pinch hitting for Mulder here. Why burn the bullpen so early? Our chances our nil anyway. Your line up vs. the Cubs bullpen? A team of drunken midget cowboys could score 6 runs off our bullpen. You forgot paraplegic
  13. My thoughts too. maddux up 2 and 3. so you fail you got 1 and 3 with 2 outs and still got a chance to score a run. You guys know Dusty doesn't squeeze, right? He's said on numerous occasions that he doesn't believe in it.
  14. Good lord. Now let's count on the pitching staff!
  15. here's the Walker interview synopsis
  16. Exactly. I absolutely love the Cubs. But I am openly rooting against Neifi now. Every hit = one more start that Nomar or Walker doesn't get. Especially considering Walker's pissy interview earlier.
  17. Maddux has been leaving piches up for the last 2 year. Aw jesus, now Neifi will never leave the starting lineup
  18. I ate some fiberglass insulation. It wasn't cotton candy like that guy said. ...my tummy itches. The bears are attracted to the menstration! Where did you get those clothes? The toilet store? Would you like to go to the pants party? I threw a trident, and I killed a guy. He's dead. I love...lamp. I ate a big red candle. You have waaaaaay too much pubic hair. I pooped a hammer.
