  1. Was there any reason to bring that up outside of draggin the guy through the mud for an immature act he's already been punished for? I'm curious as to what motivations a noob would have for bringing up something that happened 3 years ago that has no bearing on the current situation.
  2. Unless they appeal one but not the other so the suspensions aren't served simultaneously, they'll have to call a catcher up, since that's our starting catcher and our emergency 3rd catcher.
  3. Their 10 days would be up by the next time that spot in the rotation comes around, wouldn't it?
  4. Some of you are acting like he walked up to a stranger on the street and sucker punched him in the face. This is professional sports, these are extremely competitive athletes, Barrett hates losing, and AJP is the biggest smack-talker in the game. As to whether AJP said anything after the slide, or whether he was partially culpable in what happened, doesn't matter. If you're really bent on it, I'd be willing to bet that the issue with AJP started before that play. Barrett was in the wrong here, but let's get over acting like he's a street-thug or a common criminal. This was clearly an emotionally driven event, not an premeditated attack on an innocent bystander. Barrett was wrong, he's going to be punished, then he's going to put it behind him, drive on, and continue to play. I can't believe the attitudes some of you are displaying over this, you'd think you never saw a fight in a game before. It's not that big of a deal.
  5. Have some of you ever played sports? I'll bet my life savings that it wasn't about "saving face" or any other machoism garbage some of you attribute it to. It's called competition, and it doesn't have anything to do with your morale crusade to judge others on the field. Guys are frustrated and tempers are high. Most likely, it was a culmination of crap from AJP (possibly beginning with the last game) that caused Barrett to snap. It's a spur of the moment thing, and doesn't have anything to do with the machoism you're trying to accredit it to. That doesn't make it right either way, and maybe Barrett needs to have a little thicker skin, but let's get off of the high horse here.
  6. No one wants to say it because it's stupid and not true.
  7. That'd be giving him too much credit...
  8. How about the obvious "how's the jaw?" Make one of those signs that says: I have A sore Jaw! Or, Another jack in the Jaw, Please!
  9. I think he did...you don't put down a bunt in that situation unless you're absolutely, positively freaking sure that's what the manager wants. No way Neifi did that on his own. I just can't see Baker calling for a bunt. No way! I think Neifi somehow forget there were 2 outs. That's the only thing I can possibly think of that makes any sense, and it's still stupid. This IS Dusty we're talking about here. If Neifi did that on his own, he needs to be outrighted to Iowa. Keep Theriot on the roster when DLee gets back instead of the gremlin.
  10. I take you it you haven't saw the Womack signing yet? Must go through denial stage before you get to acceptance. Don't forget the intermediate stages of anger, bargaining, and depression.
  11. I think he did...you don't put down a bunt in that situation unless you're absolutely, positively freaking sure that's what the manager wants. No way Neifi did that on his own.
  12. Is Baker trying to get run out of town?
  13. umm... We're paying $2.5 mil a year, for THAT?!?!?!? Who else is speechless?
  14. One word: Fundamentals. If your teams doesn't have good fundamentals, it's a sign the manager isn't doing his job. This is the third straight year under Dusty where this team has not displayed reasonable fundamental skills.
  15. I had a manager like this when I was working part time in college. He posted some stupid new policy, I don't recall what it was, in the employee lounge. I took it down, corrected all of his mistakes with a red pen and gave it a grade like a teacher would with an elementary school student, and put it back up. Needless to say, I gave him an F. Someone ratted me out, I got called into my managers office and was written up. I thought real hard about pulling the red pen out again while I was getting written up, but I couldn't afford to go a week without work at the time while I looked for another job. I was the hero of the store to the other employees for the next month.
  16. Guzman will probably be sent back down. With Wood back, he is not needed in the rotation any longer. Give him time to perfect his trade in Iowa. Kasey I thought Guz was sent down when Ryu was brought up?
  17. I don't follow the minors every day, but I thought Sing had started to rebound nicely from his slow start when they sent him down?
  18. Why does Baker (and Hendry) insist on attributing everything to luck? It's not luck. It's called pitch recognition. Are the same guys at the top of the league every year in OBP and/or BA because of luck? No. Because whenever Baker walked in his day, it was luck.
  19. Fixed. I think he goes 3-4 from the plate, coming a triple shy of the cycle.
  20. Why? I don't find it bad news unless they use him in the rotation. I'm not going to hold my breath on that after our offense makes him look like another Cy Young winner in BP... :x
  21. Good to see Z back with some consistancy. He's put up what, 5 quality starts out of his last 6 trips to the mound?
  22. How was he horrible? He was hitting .263 off of the bench, served as a good pinch runner, and didn't make any errors. He did what was asked of him, I don't know what more you would have expected from him. a .579 OPS is horrible, bench player or not yet thats higher than Pierre Mabry Bynum Perez blanco if you haven't noticed, the cubs' bench completely sucks. They do suck, but some people expect all-stars on the bench, which isn't going to happen. Pagan wasn't doing that bad off of the bench when he got hurt.
  23. How was he horrible? He was hitting .263 off of the bench, served as a good pinch runner, and didn't make any errors. He did what was asked of him, I don't know what more you would have expected from him.
  24. A colleague searched French military victories and Google asked "Did you mean French military defeats?" The French did win the French Revolution...but of course, that was only because they were fighting frenchmen...
  25. Where's William Ligue Jr when you need him?
