    Tim McClellan and... Tim McClellan. He was the homeplate ump at the Sosa corked bat game and the ump who threw George Brett out when his bat had too much pine tar on it. And? He did what he had too do in both situations... the Brett pine tar thing was the correct call.

    I know a guy who's study plan for college was 3 hours of studying, 2 beers, and a joint, aka the 3-2-1 plan. He left wuth something like a 3.6.

    I have the same feelings whenever Angel Hernandez is anywhere on the field: especially behind the plate. The difference between Froemming and Hernandez is that Froemming seems to have it out for the Cubs, but is reasonably competent against other teams. Hernandez is just the worst umpire on the planet, regardless of who is playing. I still love the game where Mongo was in the booth during the 7th inning stretch of a game Hernandez was calling: "Don't worry Cubs fans, I'm gonna have a talk with that ump after the game." Hernandez subsequently threw him out of the park. I've loathed Hernandez ever since. Has Mongo ever been back to Wrig after that game? That will remain for a very long time one of the 5 best games I've ever seen. Mostly because it has the most awesome ending to a game ever (Gutierrez falling down coming around third and then scoring when the other dude got caught in a run down). Also, just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean that they arn't out to get me.

    I just saw video on PTI and dang was the bat moving. Couldn't see if it was intent to hit him or not. He has been suspended indefinitely. I did find the catchers lack of reaction to the ump getting hit by a bat funny. It was almost like "Eh, he was an ass anyway."
