  1. FWIW, the Buc announcers speculated the ump was thinking that because he fielded the ball in the basepath, Wilson had to go around him. They looked up the rule here and justified this. He had already fielded it and was going to apply the tag, therefore, he was out. I hope we beat up on Santos next inning
  2. Damn it. Somebody needs to line one off the ump.
  3. The lead runner is out, the umps are just won't call anything for the cubs.
  4. man, ARam really has been hitting the ball hard, just right at people, unlike Jones who was striking out a lot.
  5. Dang it Dusty, stop paying fans to say that you are good. or, hey, its Edward K!
  6. 1 pitch, 1 out. the rest of the staff (excluding Maddux) needs to be taking notes.
  7. they won't trade for church, his BA is too low for them (They don't look at OBP).
  8. I was wondering about him, is his walk problem something that has been noted before in the minors, or is it something that really just sprang up when he came up to the majors? I did some looking and found that he has a career minor league totals of 4.28 w/9, 8.14 k/9, 1.37 whip, which, while not good, is still not nearly as bad as the 13.50 w/9, 7.50 k/9, 2.67 whip. My thoughts are, and I have noticed this before, but have never tried to really compile stats on this, is that the Cubs management has a tendancy to be overly cautious in their approach to having a new, young pitcher out on the mound. They like the pitcher to try to nibble on the corners and not give up hits, to attempt to slowly gain confidence and not try to attack too much for fear of the big hit. I have seen this noticed in other places as well. I believe that some people have noted that this seems to have happened to Williams and now may be happening to Z, that the Cubs management has seen him struggling, and instead of having him attack the batters and throw strikes, they are having him be more cautious and throw more to the edge of the strike zone. Any thoughts?
  9. You mean like (Goto Page 1.....27, 28, 29, 30) that already exists? You can't make it have all the pages or it would stretch things out way to much.
  10. That trade happened before the current ownership and front office. There was a thread a while back on why their GM won't do business with Hendry.
  11. Is that a rhetorical question? No. I would really like to know. same way you put one in your post.
  12. I guess he is saying 45 from now?
  13. The Cubs try to put a horrible weekend series versus the Brewers behind them and get going against a Pirates team that has just taken 2 of 3 from state rivals the Phillies. The Cubs send rookie sensation Sean Marshall to the hill in search of his third win, while the Pirates send struggling right hander Victor Santos. This is the first game of a short 2 game set before the Cubs head off on a 9 game West Division tour with 2 @ the DBacks, 4 @ San Diego, and 3 at San Fran before returning home vs. San Diego for 3 games. The Cubs need to do well againt these teams as all four of them are weak teams that a team that is supposedly battling for a championship should beat up on. Also, by the time they come home, hopefully the Cubs will have Kerry Wood back. The Starters: Sean Marshall (2-0, 4.22 ERA, .94 whip) http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_445156.jpg vs. Victor Santos "L. Halper" (1-4, 6.48 ERA, 1.68 whip) http://www.thesimpsons.com/bios/images/bios_family_santas.gif Oops, I mean: http://pittsburgh.pirates.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_276343.jpg The Cubs look to rebound from a series where, in the last two games, they were outscored 25-2. Also, I try to improve my game thread starter record from 0-3, or I may be sent back to the minors... I also have a bad habit of missing starts.
  14. watch out Juan, Capuano will step home and still be allowed to pick you off.
  15. With Dempster instead of Williamson: 35 IP, 1.28 ERA, .97 WHIP, 7.45 K/9, 2.23 K/BB
  16. The Cubs all also playing without Wood, Prior, and Lee and are so far getting little help from Z and Aramis.
  17. Que? duh thats the sox not the mets....was thinking tidewater for some reason. guess i am a dope and done by a Devil Rays player, not a Sox player.
  18. I was actually expecting a ground ball that is of course in just the right area to get the hit. Come on Greg, stop sucking.
