  1. niether of these pitchers are going to be around for long today.
  2. he couldnt have been suffering for 25 years, KC won it all in 1985 Haha! High standards...
  3. Take your money out of T-Bills and put it in :whack: PANCAKES!
  4. To the best of my knowledge, SweetPete is still up since he technically didn't lose. He was unable to be on last night and I started the game thread. When the Cubs lose (should be soon), my guess is that you'd make your start. Bravo on not being able to read, as it wouldn't have been your turn anyways... I was going off the fact that, not only did I not start the last thread, but I was still listed as starter nearly 3 hours after the game ended, and still am.
  5. No faith in Maddux? I'll give it until the 8th when Dusty inexplicably brings in Novoa, Perez, and Mabry on one move. Perez is probably going to be starting.
  6. The Cubs look to come back from being shut down by lefty Zach Duke with a strong showing in Arizona. Going to the hill in search of being 6-0 for the first time in his storied career is Greg Maddux. In his last out, Maddux only lasted six innings, giving up two runs, the most so far this season, and eight hits, while striking out six. The Cubs batters look to get going against Miguel Batista. Batista, 2-1 with a 6.33 ERA, looks to rebound from a start against the San Francisco Giants where he went 4 and a 1/3 innings and gave up six earned runs. The Cubs bats have had not too good luck against Batista in the past, bating only .229 against the pitcher with an OBP of .333. Expect Neifi Perez to get the start, as he is 9 for 21 (.421) against the right hander with 2 doubles and a triple. Maddux on the other hand has been hit well by the DBacks, who boast a .290 avg against him. Hopefully he can keep his hot streak going, and get the win. The Starters: Greg Maddux (5-0, 1.35) http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_118120.jpg vs. Miguel Batista (2-1, 6.33) http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_110683.jpg The official game time is 8:40 PM Central, with the weather being Sunny in the 90's, so expect the roof to be closed.
  7. and because we like Duke so much, we're giving him a free out to start the next inning! SHould of just pinch hit with Z... actually, save Z for when it counts.
  8. Damn, I didn't even realize he was still out there. This is a horrible, horrible decision. The guy is coming off arm problems, and you are gonna throw him out there for a 6th inning when he's already above 90 pitches!?! It's not like he's even pitching that great. yeah, but don't expect dusty to think about that.
  9. Looked like a fish out of water. What was he trying to do, swim?
  10. I'm not complaining about Guz. Sure, he hasn't done super well, but he hasn't done overly bad. He just needs to be allowed to attack the zone early, and not nibble as much. Our offense is poor, made worse by Clines.
  11. The managers don't care? I mean, when you are constantly shut down by bad (not saying Duke is) lefties, something needs to be done, yet nothing is.
  12. Guzman has thrown 92 thru 5. Man, if he could only have more innings like the last one, he could really be something special. Once again, we get a lead off runner only to have him erased by another DP...
  13. I don't know what your Aardsma post is, but I agree about Guzman. At time he looks filthy and in command of the hitters and then at other times he looks like Glendon Rusch. Oh he NEVER looks like Rusch, man. Guzman has filthy stuff. He's been struggling with control. Rush has bad stuff, but sometimes (in a great while) he's able to pitch okay when he has good control. Its in Baseball Discussions
  14. watching Guzman today, I definitely noticed him trying to nibble around the edges, and that got him in a lot of trouble. I think that if he was allowed to attack the zone, he would do much better. He has only given up 4 hits, his walks and when he gets into trouble causes the most issues. He had a tendancy to get flustered and really overthrow maybe when he gets into trouble. He also went deep into a lot of counts, with many pitches just missing the zone.
  15. Man, Guzman looks really good in some innings, and really bad in others. I think a lot of it goes back to my Aardsma post.
  16. If you would frick'n run, Aram, YOU WOULDN'T BEING WORRYING ABOUT YOUR ANKLE. Jeeze. And Freddie Sanchez needs to be reminded that he sucks. Quick inning here, plz, we are really close to getting to Duke.
  17. nice reaction Mike, GET THE FRICK'N BALL .
  18. Bottom 2nd Murton infield single Barrett GIDP, 5-4-3 Jones grounds out, 1-3 1 hit, 0 runs, 0 errors, 0 lob Pitt 2 0 2 1 0 Cubs 0 0 0 2 0 ip pit k Duke 2.0 22 0 Guzman 2.0 44 3
  19. Duke is having control problems, we need to be patient. Dang it Barrett.
