  1. Long could get his shot when they DFA Austin 🤷‍♂️
  2. There are alot of utility players between 25-30 that becomes FA every year. Again, not saying it a bad sign, we dont know, was just saying how Hoyer loves to sign older utility and bullpen guys.
  3. Don't need to be young guys, but point is he can find younger guys to fill utility roles that been doing it. Im not complaining about the sign, just pointed out how he likes to sign mid 30s guys. And dumping 1-2 mil may not seem much if they don't pan out but doesn't it still go towards payroll and just mean he needs to find another guy and pay him too ?
  4. Be right up Hoyer ally.. Give him 20 per which would put them around 225, spend a couple more on a bullpen arm and call it an offseason saying the rest is for in season moves.. 😏😏😏
  5. It just the fact that Hoyer loves his old guys for the bench and bullpen. We'll see how it pans out but right now their two main utility guys are Kingery and Austin, both in their 30s with a combined 5 years of mlb service time.
  6. Will Imai consider him like a Japanese player since he's coming from Japan 🤷‍♂️😏😏😅
  7. Hoyer sure loves his old guys that cant hit for the bench.
  8. Rereading his statement, I think he was mainly referring to the Dodgers and their large contingent of adding Japanese players. I dont think he was saying he wouldn't choose any team if they had Japanese players on them or play with Japanese players. My point with Cubs and Yankees was just that eventhough the Cubs have 2 on roster, they both will likely be gone after this season, and just because the Yankees don't have one on their team now, doesn't mean they wont add one because of his preference. I do agree that between the two teams theres a high likelihood he would choose the Yankees but I don't think it would be because of Cubs currently having Japanese players and the Yankees dont.
  9. Ok, but do you think the Yankees will forfeit their right to go after Japanese players over the next couple years because of what Imai said? I highly doubt it and I doubt Imai would expect them too. I personally feel Imai just said what he'd prefers but realizes it not really something that guarenteed in today mlb with players posting every year, and especially with the Yankees.
  10. Even if he 100% meant that, both Suzuki and Imanaga are likely gone after the season, so he'd only be playing with them for 1 season. Also I would hope he understands that these teams like Chicago, NewYork, LA and most others are not going to just stop trying to add really good Japanese players just to appease him for however long he's with them. Out of curiosity I looked it up and there are actually 3 teams who hasn't signed a Japanese player from NPB, the Astros, Rockies, and Marlins.
  11. If Hoyer trades Hoerner, Bichette reportedly said he would be open to play 2B yesterday. He would likely be cheaper then Bregman if they can get him with a Swanson type offer of around 7/170. I like Hoerner, but what you lose with the glove at 2B, you gain with the bat, especially power, and who knows maybe in a couple years if Rojas and or Hernandez is ready, they can move Bichette to 3B.
  12. Hopefully Imanaga and Suzuki has been having conversations with Imai about how good it is to live and play for the Cubs... 🤷‍♂️😏
  13. Maybe it plan B if he doesn't land Imai or King but you have to wonder if Hoyer could be hesitant in trading those top guys with the probability of needing them to replace the ones on their final year of contract. There really isnt a top position player prospects to turn to after Caissie Ballesteros and Alcantara until maybe 2028 with Rojas or Hernandez.
  14. I just threw Gallen name out there, I guess they could also go for Valdez and Suarez too if they want to add another lefty and lose out on King. A trade is also a route to take but I do wonder if Hoyer is willing to move any of his current top prospects now for a top end SP. Let just hope they get Imai and can move on to the next need, a solid bat
  15. Ok, if it was on the winter meetings thread it locked so I didn't bother looking there
  16. Supposedly down to Yankees and Cubs for Imai, I guess if true, if the Cubs are willing to spend on Imai, if they lose out there then they should be all in on King or maybe Gallen.
  17. Keller 2 years with the Phillies
  18. So far the Cubs main additions to the roster has been Hoby Milner, Maton and Theilbar, all bullpen guys.
  19. I agree, I mean if the offer to Bregman was 4/120 with 2 opt outs last year, I just dont see them making any kind of better offer this year for him, I wouldn't put it pass them if their offer if made was 3/90..lol This was part of why I never believed that there was ever a big interest in him, that zoom meeting probably lasted 5 minutes and was probably basically just the Cubs asking if he'd accept that 4/120 now and he said nope...
  20. I would of accepted that but when you called me champ(I took it as funny), I had to reply back with champ too...lol
  21. It no big deal now, but this is what I saw Cuzi responding to and why I thought he was talking about now... No where does it say anything about getting Bregman LAST YEAR... But he said he was referring to last year then ok, we move on
  22. Theyre nice additions, I just find it amusing how Hoyer likes his old bullpen guys and for that matter he seems to always add an older bench bat too.
  23. Your response was to Bertz about Bregman this offseason, and saying he's trying to save his job. My response to you was just that he doesn't need to try and save his job because he just signed an extension and is safe
  24. Same point Champ....lol
  25. Save his job ???? He just signed an extension for 5 more years. Jed will be the Cubs POBO until like Theo hes ready to step down and that wont be until at least 2030.
