I was wondering during that inning if PCA hasn't been attempting to steal much is because of not wanting to risk a CS with Suzuki and Bregman at the plate and the possibility of them hitting a homerun. Just wondering 🤷

Agree, Counsell should be taking advantage of having guys like Rea, Civale, and hopefully Assad come Saturday in his bullpen to come in and pitch the 4th-6th inning when a starter starts to lose it, over pushing starters to get a couple extra outs or going to one of the shitt relievers hoping they can get it done.

So basically, the hope is that Steele, Miller, Cabrera, Hollowell, and maybe Assad can return and become the main bullpen guys the last couple weeks of season and into the playoffs.

With the way SP have basically been turned into 5 innings starts for the most part, I've been waiting for a team to do something like this. Just get like 3-4 Assad/Rea/Civale type pitchers that can go 3+ innings for the bullpen.

Boyd was at the end of rope there, but yea, you can see why Counsell tries to squeeze every out he can from his starters, even when theyre gassed sometimes.

Watched that play over, even after getting kicked in arm and head, Pratt got up quickly to get the ball in. Nico wasn't going to score after standing and watching to see if ball would be caught or not, Pratt got up quickly after it dropped

And there's the homerun..... Cubs need 2 things to happen to win in the playoffs, their SP to have a QS, and the offense to score alot of runs 🙄🙄🙄 Pretty much need at least a 5 run lead to feel somewhat safe with this bullpen
