  1. He signing guys to minimal deals in years, that who he can flip if he wants, he not really looking to sign guys for long term to maybe trade in 2-3 yrs. They've been sitting on money the last 3 seasons, they're about 30 mil under now, I dont expect them to spend anymore then 20 of that if they do add another bat and or arm this offseason.
  2. I dont disagree with you, I just feel this is the route Jed is taking. I think he's trying to replicate 2015 in some ways with a big difference being that they have more young pitching in system and they have more young talented depth throughout. But, I think he has his eyes on the OF talent they have in system to go along with Shaw as far as position players goes.
  3. My stand was signing guys long term, outside of Swanson none of those guys were long term signings that will keep any of these kids from coming up and playing When and If they will be ready. Mervis had an opportunity last season, didn't do well. Amaya got his opportunity and has stuck. Morel came up last season and is now going to get a shot at 3B. This season we will probably see a few more get opportunities. Peralta and Or Smith will likely get a shot early on, but again they're not long term and can be easily dropped if they decide to go with a kid at the start or later in season like last season when they bounced Hosmer, Mancini, and Barnhardt for Mervis, Morel, and Amaya.
  4. They did, Peralta and Smith.. They may sign another but it won't be anyone that'll get a long term deal.. I'm holding out hope for Bellinger but ....
  5. Iowa Cubs going to be a fun watch this season with all the bats they have.
  6. You see an actual plan outside of the young kids ? I've been thinking/saying since last offseason that I felt they were going to look and go with these kids over signing FA to long term deals (Swanson aside) of 4+ yrs. PCA, Morel, Mervis, Canairo, Amaya, Alcantara, Shaw, Busch, etc ., we're going to be seeing alot of these guys this season, not sure if we're going to see any current FA signed for 4+ yrs.
  7. Young guys looking good.. I'm standing on my thoughts that theyre going to be giving these kids all the opportunities over signing FA to long term deals.
  8. I'm predicting a Bellinger signing today with the Cubs... https://twitter.com/CHGO_Cubs/status/1761065124708921547?t=7CsSHQrE-BaePezmAm6Syg&s=19
  9. Was thinking the same
  10. He's been trying to get this guy for a couple years now 😅
  11. Cubs agree with David Peralta on a non roster deal.. More basement bargain signing
  12. I said this last offseason and I'll say it again, Hoyer/Ricketts is looking to do what they did in 2015, 2016 with the prospects. They're not going to give out multi year deals over 4+ years to position players ( Swanson aside) until he sees what he has with the prospects that are ready/near ready. Happ, Hoerner, and Suzuki are the only other position players signed pass this season through 2026. We'll be seeing PCA, Caissie, Shaw, Alcantara, Busch, Triantos, etc.... this season and next season up with the Cubs with Morel, Amaya, and Canairo. I personally am not expecting any big FA signing for a couple seasons.
  13. Im expecting Bellinger to do a Dexter Fowler and walk out onto the field during practice..lol
  14. It's time to talk about some Spring Training stuff and games...
  15. Moral needs a position other then DH to get his bat in the lineup everyday, and with 3B being pretty much the only one without a guy who can take it over, that a spot Moral can try and win and make his during ST. I can see Counsell using the DH spot more for Wisdom and getting the bench ABs with matchups.
  16. Chapman suks.. If they add another starting bat, it going to be Bellinger. Cubs will likely go with Morel and Madrigal at 3B with an eye on Shaw for the second half of season.
  17. Tells us they're not pursuing anyone outside to play 3B, it Morel's spot to lose in ST and at least to start the season at. So basically 7 of the starting 8 is pretty much set, with CF the only question. Gomes, Busch, Hoerner, Swanson, Morel, Happ, Suzuki and Wisdom probably DH I can see why there's rumors about adding bullpen guys, they're gonna have crap for offense.
  18. Jed gonna snatch Chapman and Bellinger on short deals 😅
  19. Also Tomorrow teams can utilize the 60 day IL, which can open up 40 man roster spots. So, hopefully we start seeing some transactions soon.
  20. https://twitter.com/mlbtraderumors/status/1757299073843913036?t=bN231sVvgkTtHpGoV2EYsA&s=19
  21. Do what ? Have a feel that there's no way Hoyer is done trying to improve this roster and is just going to settle on a Pitcher from Japan and a top 50 rookie prospect to win ballgames this season. I dont cry, I'll just tell it like it is if that what he does and we're looking at possibly another wasted opportunity to win a division and go to the playoffs.
  22. For some reason I just have this huge feeling that Hoyer has a trade he cooking up right before Pitchers and Catchers report that will add a bat(3B) and a pitcher. Bellinger will be signed right before ST Monday or Tuesday should be pretty active for the cubs 🤞🤞🤞
  23. Process of elimition as far as team's needs and budget. You look for what teams has openings and are looking to add whomever of the 4 top players available and are willing or can fit the player's price range into their budget..
  24. Hoyer doesn't really seem to be the negotiating type, he basically has his max years and amount set and waits until the player comes down from their asking price. With Bellinger, I have to think it's more about the years, Bellinger is likely looking for a minimum of 7 yrs and Hoyer probably will only go to 5
  25. 7 days til pitchers and catchers report and still not 100% sure who will play 1B, 3B, CF, and DH. Right now it's projected to be Busch, Madrigal, Tauchman, and Morel. That not good you all
