  1. Yep, they have had ample opportunities to blow this game open
  2. Could be wrong but even when they had Pujols and other bats, they never really had pitching
  3. Didn't that happen with his last triple too
  4. Probably could be, his contract is up after 2025. He'll have this deadline, offseason, and next deadline to do something. You realize, 4 contracts will be expired after 2026 season. Hoerner, Happ, Bellinger, and Suzuki if they all are still with the team at the start of 2026. I think it's unlikely any of them gets an extension. That leaves Amaya, Busch, and Morel that will be entering Arb years. Maybe Morel and Busch stays until then, depending on how they continue to play, Amaya will likely be gone though.
  5. I think we might be seeing Ballesteros in the second half
  6. They waited til the 4th to leave them loaded 😆
  7. I guarentee you that at least 6 of these guys will be gone before the 2027 season.
  8. One lob in first, two lob in second, so the bases will stay loaded in the 3rd 🤷‍♂️😏😏
  9. Over the next 2 seasons, 2025 and 2026 C. Amaya he could bring traded, sent down or released, he not Arb eligible until 2027.. 1B. Busch Earliest Arb Eligible: 2027, he can be sent down, or traded by then if they choose. 2B. Hoerner under contract 2 more yrs, can be traded before. 3B. Morel can be traded, Arb starts 2026 LF Happ under contract 2 more urs, can be traded before CF Bellinger he can be traded, or opt out only 2 seasons.. RF Suzuki under contract 2 more yrs, can be traded.. As you see, only Swanson is under contract pass the 2026 season, the others contract expires or under team control Arb.. So, like I said, if they choose to make positional player changes between this deadline and the 2026 offseason, it won't be hard for them to do because they're not committed to long term contracts with anyone but Swanson. All other contracts will be up at the end of 2026
  10. I guess the good thing about this offseason is that they don't need to focus much on SP and they can put most of their focus on acquiring bats. Imanaga Steele and Taillon under contract along with all the young guys under team control. Swanson 5/137 left on deal will be the only position player hard to move, so they can actually rebuild the entire positional roster from scratch over the next couple seasons if they choose.
  11. Ya gotta be pretty dumb to try and get away with something now when the umps are checking
  12. Another awesomely boring Cubs game with the bats...
  13. I agree with you, my point was just if Hoyer going to move young access at the deadline, I just hope it for someone that will at least make them more competitive and not just help them at least have a shot at the postseason on September but will also be a part of the team next season. I just don't want them to trade access for a band ade or two that won't make much of a difference this season and or won't be a part of the team next season.
  14. They have to be realistic of their chances, not to just make it but actually advance.
  15. Why ? I don't recall him putting together this roster
  16. This one is over, so much for the momentum winning the giants series
  17. Imanaga don't have it today, this one is likely L unless the bats surprises us.
  18. Yep that the Cubs hitters not getting the big hit to take advantage of it
  19. Bats need to respond with something here, even just 1 run.
  20. I would expect Almonte, Merryweather, Brown, Wicks, and Alzolay could be back at some point after the break. This way Hoyer can say these guys returning is like adding to the roster when he doesn't make any real moves.
  21. 8 and 9 this month, still a chance to end up with a positive month if they can finish strong these last 10 games.
  22. Swanson needed to toss that ball to Nico there, not sure what he was thinking.
