  1. That the problem with this team that I've been saying all along, they have a bunch of guys that will look good for a few games and make you think they figured it out but then go cold for a long stress.
  2. Cause the Cubs only last 3 minutes when they bat 😅
  3. Cracks me up when they do interviews with Jed or Hawkins when the Cubs bat and 3 minutes later it's over cause they went 1-2-3 in less then 10 pitches 😅
  4. It'll be a long long time before they sell and give up this cash cow...
  5. Cubs have to be close to having the most games of scoring 2 or fewer runs, this is their 8th shutout.
  6. Ross ? Of pitchers, id see what we can get for... Hendricks, Taillon, Smyly, Leiter, and Neris Won't he much but it'll open up roster spots for younger guys to come up and showcase themselves for 2025
  7. This team is pretty much what I figured it would be back in May, only theyre just a bit worse. Me, I would trade away the players if the return was good enough that I don't feel will be a significant part of this team in 2 years. I'd bring up guys that are ready and will or could be a part of this team going forward, and let them finish out the season.
  8. Glad to see the bats didn't rust over the break, theyre still the same 🙄🙄🙄
  9. If that the case then they should look to trade him and get pitching in return. I'm sure there will be playoff teams willing to part with a good A or AA pitching prospect for his bat. They have or can add in offseason a player who can mainly be a DH all season for them.
  10. They don't have much to sell if they go that route but if they make any major moves either way, they likely will wait til the 31st. So, yea they have 11 games til then and to move the needle to adding significant players for a strong playoff push, im gonna say they'll need to win at least 7 of them. Otherwise, I think theyll basically stay as is with some minor moves both ways, adding and subtracting.
  11. But they will make great trades and add good FA and have a contending roster😏😏😏
  12. Don't they usually split them ?
  13. Cost cutting so they can add another depth minor league reliever
  14. Unless the cubs have a top 5 pick in a draft that has exceptional talent coming out of college, it hard for me to get excited or disappointed about any picks they make because it usually a 3 to 5 year wait on these kids to see if they have major league talent.
  15. Quick question for the draft tonight, can teams trade up or just into the compensation picks. Wondering if the Cubs can add picks tonight
  16. Hope this isn't going to be one of those little hot streaks in July that will make Hoyer rethink about doing much of anything and basically stay as is with these guys. He'll say something like, we got guys coming off the IL that will help us the rest of the way and we feel strongly about our chances with the guys we have. Then they play under 500 ball in August 🙄🙄🙄
  17. Off topic but I just saw an article on Ace Daigle, he a 6'8 230# HS senior in Louisiana, he's the son of Chris Daigle former D-back pitcher and Jennie Finch Arizona and USA Olympic softball pitcher. If he's available for the Cubs, I hope he's drafted just on his gene alone 😅 https://x.com/PrepBaseballLA/status/1801076379036897412?t=D0WKGB6jLZNy_Ihv0cVfNA&s=19
  18. If Hoyer is taking offers on Bellinger, im sure he'll take the safe route and IL him now so that he'll be healthy after the break and get a few games in to show it.
  19. Not saying they need to spend big money on a bench guy or even a closer. You can find guys like this that aren't going to cost a ton of money.
  20. In regards to the DH, I guess yes, with the OFers they have in system, they can stay within for DH. I'd like to see them get another sure TOR guy to go with Imanaga and Steele, they could use one or two of their younger arms in a trade for one that could become available. Me, im not a fan of using a rookie/unseasoned guy to close out games, I like to have a somewhat veteran for that spot and use the young arms as 7th inning/setup guys for a couple seasons first. I like having a reliable veteran or two on the bench, someone like Zobrist, where you can plug him into the lineup anytime and produce or come off the bench in a pinch. I know the bench isn't relied upon as much as before but I would like them to have one guy they can count on and not just a hope or luck into one.
  21. Outside of not knowing what Bellinger will do, I can see Hoyer keeping the bulk of the gang together as a one last shot in his final contract season over breaking it down and basically starting over, especially if it still a no go from Rickett to going over the Threshold. He would need to find upgrades offensively at Catcher, 3B, and DH... A SP, Closer, and making the bench and bullpen better. So, yea I can see 2025 being a season where he and his guys need to show a make it happen or you'll be moving on type of year because otherwise they'll be bringing in a new guy to run the team and he'll likely be cleaning house with a few players and turning more towards the prospects to start with.
  22. I like Morel but I think he'll be traded, if not at deadline then in offseason. They have 2 positional needs to upgrade as of now for 2025 and that catcher and 3B
  23. They really don't have anyone else much better, their better hitters are all starters
  24. I like elise when she does Iowa games with Cohen, I wouldn't mind if the two of them took over the booth for Cubs games.
