  1. Hopefully our pitching can be better then theirs, I'll be good with a split.
  2. We've been dealing with this since Wrigley and more so the Tribune Company when they owned them, don't spend more then needed to keep fans in the seats. Keep fans entertained with Harry, WF, and a very good player or two and the ballpark will be full. If we win great, if not maybe next year
  3. Because he is also likely adding into it, all of the neighborhood he bought up and had redone.
  4. Here something else I've been thinking lately. The CBA expires after 2026, and a likelihood that there may be a shutdown on the owners side with the 2027 season as I've heard. Outside of Swanson, the only other player they have under contract pass 2026 is Imanaga, which ends after 2027. I can't help to wonder if TR have told Hoyer no more longterm big money deals now because he wants to wait to see the outcome of the new CBA and or other reasons related. Not saying it will keep them from extending Tucker, but it could be a reason they don't extend him and or sign a big name FA this coming offseason. We could just see the same type of offseason as this past one with Tucker and Pressly as the only big named players possibly leaving via FA, and replace them within or with someone on another 1 or 2 year deal. New POBO/GM comes in slow and doesn't offer anyone big contracts in his first offseason, they play out 2026 and has a clean roster going into 2026 offseason with a new CBA pending
  5. Jed setting himself up to leave after the season, and it ok because this team needs a new set of ideas on putting a roster together, especially if TR continues to put limitations on the payroll.
  6. Cubs can win their division if they can just avoid playing bad baseball for most of the season. Pirates are shitt, Reds are blah, and the Brewers and Cardinals are taking a Sabbatical for the time being. Cubs are the kings of we don't have to get alot better, we just wait til everyone else gets worse in our division. 😅
  7. This... Trading Smith for Tucker isn't a big deal, what becomes a big deal is Trading good young assets for 1 year of a player and you keep going in a merry go round with your roster and playing in the mediocre end of the pool because you can't tie up the top level players long term and Trading away good young assets to get them. No matter what Cam Smith career becomes if Tucker walks at the end of the year because Hoyer can't compete with the big boys with his offer, then this becomes a ****** trade more so not just because you lost Smith but now if they're going to look to replace Tucker bat with another big bat via trade, now they'll have to trade more top assets to get him.
  8. Kelly, Berti, Workman, and Turner for the bench. Brown is the 5th starter And an old bullpen, lol Keller turning 30 during season, theyll have 6 of 8 in their 30s, and four at age 35+
  9. Theyll have played 30 games come May 2nd against a few very good teams, hopefully they can come away with a split.
  10. Cubs getting their asses beat again, I know it ST but damn.
  11. I would hope they have more crew members on staff then the ones they sent to Japan, but then again $$$$
  12. Give me Alex Cohen and Ryan Sweeney and I'll be good with that
  13. What up with Marquee, they can't televise these weekend games, not like they have other programs to show.
  14. Hoerner in the lineup today, hopefully he'll be ready to go come next week.
  15. Right, this season the trade is what it is but if the Cubs can't extend Tucker and this kid goes on to have a pretty good career, it'll be another trade Cubs fans will look back on and frown upon.
  16. It was good enough to score 10 off the Cubs 🤷‍♂️😅
  17. For me it not that they loss but how they looked losing those games. It basically looked like games 163 and 164 off of last season with the hitters, couldn't hit in clutch, lots of strikeouts. Their 2 best hitters Tucker and Suzuki combined for 1 hit and 2 BB in 18 PA Overall pitching was ok, but sucked to see Steele get rocked
  18. It ST for the Dodgers too, hate to see what the scores would of been if both Freeman and Betts were playing. Just shows how much far behind the Cubs are to the Dodgers talent wise at this point in the season, I just hope they're ready to go come April with the schedule they have and don't put themselves in a big early hole to dig out of. They have 29 games, be nice if they can win close to 15 of them.
  19. Only thing that sucks is that when everyone else in the Division starts up, the Cubs are already 2 losses back and their schedule in April is rough. 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫
  20. Yep, it's still kinda ST Spend some of that money on bullpen arms
  21. No, Dodgers probably beat them easily at WF too.
  22. I hope he spent some time with the kid pitcher from the first game, Keito Mombetsu 20 yo., he had some good looking stuff.
  23. Exactly, they don't need to make these games count in mid March. They can send 4 teams overseas to play preseason games every March and just have them play each other for 3 games apiece to provide exposure there. Making 2 teams ramp up their ST in order to be ready for 2 meaningful games in mid March is dumb.
  24. Not sure why he was Counsell first choice in that spot, weather it was going to be with 2 outs or not, Ohtani was coming up in a 1 run game. Oh well, can't win if you can't get any offense, 1 for 7 with RISP. Gotta be better tomorrow and they get Sasaki, hopefully he'll have first game nerves and being at home.
