Funny game here.. SP matchup favored the Pirates but Horton matched Skenes for 6 innings. Bullpen favored the Cubs and so far it the Cubs pen that gave up the first run 😵💫😵💫😵💫

Couldn't ask for anything better out of Horton, matched Skenes zeros and now it bullpen versus bullpen for 3 innings

It an obvious send but damn he wasn't close, only hope was for bit of a bad throw from the cutoff, and he made a great pickup on that short hop. Horton just gotta get through this inning and hopefully the hitters will hit their pen.

Today a great day for Horton to go 7 inning with double digits strikeouts. Be awesome if he could have close to a Kerry Wood type game when he had the 20Ks.. 😏😏

I dont expect Turner to be dumped either, but like you mention he could get that IL stint a couple times to bring someone up like Long to see what he can do. I just think theyll look for another bat to replace either Berti and or Brujan in July, they don't need 2 guys whose best asset is just to run the bases. The 9 guys are set but eventually especially in July and August you gotta start sitting them here and there to give them a breather and you'd hope they can do better then what they have, and especially if someone gotta miss a couple games for something minor. I think a SP, bullpen arm, and a bench bat could be 3 deals Hoyer should make before the deadline not just to help get them a division title or to the playoffs but also to help them matchup and beat potential teams in the postseason like the Dodgers, Phillies, Mets

Brown likely only has one more start maybe 2 before Imanaga returns , timeline for his return is the Cardinals if all goes well from here til then. I think theyll send Brown back down to work on his changeup more

We see alot of playoff contenders upgrading their bench every deadline with adding someone that can help them. Is there a way to see outside of backup catchers teams bench statistics, cause I would bet that just about all the other playoff teams has at least one guy they can count on unlike the Cubs with Turner, Berti, or Brujan. Those 3 are probably at the bottom end of bench bats.
