  1. Kyle's last 5 starts: 28 IP 33 H 2 HRs 5 BBs 25 Ks 3.54/2.94/3.30 ERA/FIP/xFIP A little less efficient than you'd like, but he is probably fixed. Quintana seems to be on his way as well. We need to acquire someone (Eovaldi!) to replace Chatwood but my dread about our rotation is starting to subside.
  2. Hendricks did something to infuriate the BABIP gods tonight. Oh well, Milwaukee's losing too and I absolutely put this in the "Encouraging" column for Kyle's prospects going forward.
  3. Based on MLB.com's ratings that's #9 and #15 from a strong system. Plus a nice AAA reliever. So something like Lange, Maples, and another guy would be our equivalent? I think I've been the biggest Britton cheerleader and I'd say horsefeathers no to that.
  4. I know some shine is off the Dillon Tate apple but that's still a better headliner than I would have been alright sending for Britton.
  5. Not at all. and I want him. The glass half full version though is that his velocity came back at the start of July. and since then he's basically been back to normal. But because of the salary and the risk involved, the prospect cost shouldn't be too high. It's kind of like Justin Verlander last year. He had a disaster start on July 2nd, that left his ERA at 4.96 and xFIP at 5.03. From then on he was JUSTIN VERLANDER again, but it still required a leap of faith to trade for him. Even at the end of August he had only been good again for 8 weeks. Sometimes it works out, but quite often it doesn't.
  6. I want Britton, but he has enough question marks that we don't need him specifically. That being said I do want someone better than Brach. He was very good for a while but currently looks like a perfectly fine 7th inning guy and not much more.
  7. I think you stuck the landing with Thermo-dong-namics
  8. Teams probably prefer not to trade ML pieces at deadline if contending. But if Theo was willing to trade Nomar at the deadline, even if it was 14 years ago, you can never rule it out with him. In a move that quietly got him Big Papi, right? No, Papi was a free agent the year before that. Nomar got him Mientkeiwicz, Orlando Cabrera, and I think a reliever.
  9. Happ and Chatwood for Britton, Gausman, and a bunch of IFA money? Is that crazy?
  10. Cards are now in 4th place, closer to last than first
  11. Especially after we get Britton. Innings 1&2: Chavez Innings 3&4: Montgomery Inning 5: Wilson Inning 6: Strop Inning 7: Carl Inning 8: Britton Inning 9: Morrow Cishek in reserve to bail out whichever guy doesn't have it that day.
  12. Oh man that was almost a fastball to the beans.
  13. Yeah I am fairly happy with that. If he can give us a dominant start in one of his next few I'll be ready to say he's fixed.
  14. That's probably fair. The Royals also didn't get a ton for Kelvim Herrera. I think if we get Britton it's not going to be very painful, particularly given his salary.
  15. Very shallow but the wind was playing tricks so he didn't have his feet set when he caught it. Not a bad send IMO.
  16. I wonder if Morrow's arm actually fell off instead of just bicep tendinitis. They were going to go after a high end reliever even if Morrow was 100% healthy IMO.
  17. Jon was due for one of these. Sucks it's the day before a double header, but whatever. Rosario and Norwood will need to eat some innings, and Farrell and Chavez will come up tomorrow in their place.
  18. Not a weatherman but looking at the radar it looks like there's a big patch of gross weather out in the burbs right now but once it passes they should mostly be in the clear.
  19. I've liked Chavez since his Oakland days. My assumption has been that we are going to get a front end reliever, probably Britton, and a 3rd tier starter (think Jake Odorizzi). Given Chavez's swingy-ness I wonder if he replaces the starter or if he's going to be one of three guys.
  20. I like him. He sometimes goes on really weird and/or dumb tangents, but generally he's great. It's like 90/10 great to cringeworthy. But aside from JD (we're so spoiled) there's not many guys better than that.
  21. Bryant and Heyward are so horsefeathering good on the bases
  22. Or like when the Nats got Doolittle and Madson in the same deal. One stop shopping to fix the bullpen.
