  1. Nothing groundbreaking, but good overview of how the FO is adjusting to the current state of things wrt the draft.
  2. I guess this goes here? Who would have had Stone Cold being a voice of reason and so many more mild mannered athletes just totally stepping in it.
  3. Guy who got an NFL coaching job at 25 because of his daddy can't figure out why his peer group isn't more diverse
  4. Keith Law's latest mock Interesting on the HS front, given that a number of other places have had them going that route. I wonder if the Cubs' intentions are just a big old shrug emoji for everyone right now given the FO changes.
  5. Thought this was a good detailed breakdown, but the long story short looks is this:
  6. This is a fun read. It also makes me wonder if all of the new technology from the last few years might re-value HS arms a bit more.
  7. JJ Cooper with a little additional context:
  8. 2016 Cubs make the list
  9. Jeff Passan as usual put it really well in his article today: tl;dr Is that there's two issues. First, revenue sharing is a slippery slope to a salary cap. Second is that if everything goes right, players likely stand to make a little bit more than in the current setup. But if the playoffs get altered by a second wave they're losing A LOT of additional money.
  10. In a world where the owners had been acting in good faith the last few years, I think just settling for a 50/50 split this year due to all the uncertainty makes plenty of sense. But, we don't live in that world. You can't nickel and dime the players for years when things are good and then play the "we're in this together" card as soon as they get bad.
  11. Even if true, I'm sure this won't be confirmed for weeks. It does sound in line with the reporting from Passan and Rosenthal the past week or so though.
  12. MLB's ability to cut its nose to spite its face knows no bounds
  13. I'm at 4840 now, so given everything I'm guessing I'll come up this winter.
  14. The problem with the Love pick is you have to be *very* right about him for it to pay off. The team is financially committed to Rodgers' for at least the next two years, so you need: A) Love to be better in years 3-5 (plus maybe a little value as a backup QB in years 1-2) than any non-QB available would be over a full 5 years and B) For him him to be better by enough to feel good about weakening the team around Rodgers' for his last two years Essentially, you need the dream scenario like the Packers got with Rodgers replacing Favre. If Love ends up being like the 12th best QB in the league, was it worth it? I'd lean no. And that's before you get into the specific criticisms of Love. For instance Football Outsiders metrics have him as more of a mid-round caliber QB: https://www.espn.com/nfl/insider/story/_/id/28953774/2020-nfl-draft-qb-projections-why-jordan-love-risky
  15. Maddux is number 1 by a mile. From the Hendry era obviously Lee and Ramirez are tops. Prior and Wood too. Rich Harden weirdly stands out as well, his second half of 2008 was just the coolest. From this era probably Willson, Javy, Dex, and Hendricks. Yu's probably my favorite right at this moment, but he needs to be produce for longer for him to be a guy I really look back on and think about.
  16. Assuming we're considering Bellinger an OF, I think Freeman is the only guy I would consider better than Rizzo. That said I think given ages Alonso and Matt Olson (the only AL 1b worth discussing) are reasonable choices. It also wouldn't be crazy for 2019 to be a blip and for Goldschmidt to still be better.
  17. Greg Maddux shutting out the Dodgers vs Orel Hershiser in 1989 is on Marquee right now
  18. I've been wondering about this. I wonder if crowd sizes might be small enough that this is reasonable by the summer even if MLB isn't? And if not, do we see some sort of late/extended AFL or Instructional league?
  19. Well the Bears don't have anything from pick 50 to 163 in the 5th now. They might move around, and Pace is always game to trade future picks, but as it stands, they could miss on that tier 3 QB prospect too. Oh that's right, I forgot that Pace decided to flush our 4th away for Foles. Fantastic.
  20. In case you're wanting a Jalen Hurts or someone in like the 4th
