  1. Believe what you want. Sure, the Sox hit a lot of homeruns but it was 42 less homeruns than the season before and their lowest team total since 1999. Scott Podsednik did win game 2 or the World Series with a homerun......ironic.
  2. The Sox already had plenty of power. Lee is the better offensive player when it comes to HR and RBI and AVG but what Podsednik gave the Sox was a player who could manufacture runs, a player who could beat out an infield hit (40 in 2005, 16 of those bunts), a player who could get on base (.419 OBP leading off the game in 2005) in the first inning and be at 2B by the time the meat of the order came up. He was the spark for the Sox in '05 and the offense suffered when he was out with an injury later in the year, which almost cost the Sox. Pods reminded my alot of what Bobby Dernier did for the Cubs in '84. So say what you will about old baseball traditional positions but there is a reason why they are traditions.....it's because they work more often than not and in 2005, it worked like a charm.
  3. Says the fan of the team that has been desperately trying to trade for Brian Roberts.
  4. The Sox, at the time, needed a top of the order guy that could get on base and had speed. That was Pods. While Carlos Lee was a good player, he was a liabilty on defense and the Sox already had enough power and RBI guys in Konerko, Dye and Everett. Without that trade I don't think the Sox win the series that year.
  5. Glad some people on these boards are rational. What up raw? Nice to see both Chicago clubs off to a good start.
  6. So I'm guessing no one is interested in this and that when players are added to CBS Sportlines player database it will just be first come, first served?
  7. In order to place a player on our leagues DL he has to be on MLB's DL as well. A day-to-day injury does not qualify.
  8. Please remove Francisco Rodriguez from your DL. He is not listed on MLB disabled list.
  9. Please remove David Murphy from your minor league roster. He is over the 130 AB maximum.
  10. Please remove Randy Johnson from your DL. He was activated on 4/14. Please remove Carlos Gomez from your minor league roster. He is over the 130 AB maximum. Please remove Jason Botts from your minor league roster. He is over the 130 AB maximum.
  11. Please remove Adam Jones from your minor league roster. He is over the 130 AB maximum. Please remove Angel Guzman from your minor league roster. He is over the 50 IP maximum. Please remove Brandon McCarthy from your minor league roster. He is over the 50 IP maximum.
  12. And it has had 3 names in the last three days. :D
  13. You guys change forum names as often as Pamela Anderson changes husbands.
  14. Vine, if you want this to be an issue that is reviewed in the offseason, add it here. viewtopic.php?f=35&t=47748
  15. $10 is correct. BTW Tim, I will be making payments for myself and DSB this weekend.
  16. I sent a PM to a member last night and it is still sitting in my outbox and has not transfered into the "sent" box. :-s Why is that and does this mean the receipient has not received the message?
  17. I must have forgotten that one, there were so many. 8-[ Zzzzz....zzzzzz.....snoozefest. What is this? Fantasy football?!? The league allows you to make changes to your lineup for an entire week at once if you want. Just click on each day of the week in your "Set Lineup" section and then you only have to go back in to make changes for trades or injuries. :this: :rules: Damn straight you will!
  18. It was brought up again here back at the begining of February but no one seemed to be paying attention: viewtopic.php?f=35&t=46571 You can add it to the offseason thread if you'd like. :-k
  19. We could do our own amateur draft at some point after MLB conducts their draft in June? We could do it via this message board or through the league message board. We could have maybe 3-4 rounds with each pick getting 24hrs. If no pick is made then that pick is forfeited.
  20. The following trades have been made which include a draft selection from the 2009 draft: Hosak: 2nd round from Soxoholics Soxoholics: 6th round from Hosak Dawg Pound: 4th round from Slainte Hosak: 2nd round from Buckner Buckner: 4th round from Hosak Hosak: 3rd round from Slainte Bronx: 6th round from Soxoholics (via Hosak) Soxoholics: 4th round from Ocho Loco Slainte: 2nd round from Hosak Hosak: 2nd round from Dawg Pound Hosak: 3rd round from Dawg Pound Soxoholics: 1st round from Dawg Pound Soxoholics: 5th round from Roady Roady: 4th round from Dawg Pound Dawg Pound: 5th round from Hosak Hosak: 3rd round from Roady Bronx: 1st round from Soxoholics Bronx: 4th round from Soxoholics (via Ocho Loco) Soxoholics: 1st round from Bronx The following trades have been made which include a draft selection from the 2010 draft: Dawg Pound: 1st round from Soxoholics Dawg Pound: 1st round from Hosak The following trades have been made which include SCP for 2009: Soxoholics: 300 SCP from Dawg Pound Roady: 350 SCP from Dawg Pound SoCal: 17 SCP from Hosak Hosak: 500 SCP from Dawg Pound Roady: 122.7 SCP from Dawg Pound
  21. Post your issues or ideas here that you would like the league to vote on during the offseason to be implemented for the 2009 season. Please only post issues/ideas in this thread. If you want to discuss anything in this thread please start another. Let's keep this thread as clean as possible to avoid any confussion. viewtopic.php?f=35&t=47766
  22. 314.1 to 313.0 291.4 to 288.4 225.6 to 222.2 Hosak is in a familiar place. The more things change the more they stay the same.
  23. I knew we did it somewhere. I will remove tonight.
  24. I thought that we had in the past as long as they were on an actual MLB minor league roster. No college prospects or players from the current years draft. I have been waiting for CBS to add him so I can try to pick him up. I did not realize that we can request for players to be added because it so I have a couple in mind. Tim will have to confirm if we had done this in the past. I don't think there were any last year but I want to say it happened in year one of the league. If not I will remove the "created" Villalona and then when CBS adds him it will be first come, first served.
