  1. Remember last year when the Bears were scoring a shitload of points Apparently Getsy remembers
  2. Knock it out of the park wooo I'm really encouraged by our last 2 first halves
  3. Mooney should have like a hundred yards already too damn
  4. This is shaping up for a potential test on what Eberflus learned last week How is that not PI. He never turned for the damn ball and he made tons of illegal contact.
  5. I don't think we know any of that just yet. Plenty of prospects find their power later than expected. We are still looking at a kid who was drafted out of HS 2 years ago and posted an excellent BBK this year. He showed a significant improvement in his FB rate at A+ as well. He's got a couple years to hone in the defense. Then again he feels like a ripe trade chip anyway.
  6. In the first 3 games they moved him out of the pocket a total of 7 times. In week 4 they did it 8 times. You see the amount of carries Herbert had. That was against an awful defense and he faced 3 good ones to start the year, but it's definitely more emblematic of what we saw last season. You cannot plant Justin in the pocket and expect him to pick apart a defense. He needs to shift the pocket and open up passing lanes and have the threat to run in the back pocket. What we need to see though is, when teams blitz and take away the moving pocket, sometimes he just needs to eat the sack and come back and get them the next play. He can't panic and try to make a pass that turns into disaster like the scoop and score last week.
  7. Where is the ball
  8. Blah blah I don't buy it. So many HOF pitchers made 100 IP jumps early in their career and showed no ill effects. He was still throwing gas, his command was probably just off.
  9. Alcantara absolutely makes the most sense. Do they have a RP under control that we could use? Feels like Alonso alone is not worth Alcantara. He's just a 3 win player on an expiring contract, powerful bat or not.
  10. Really interested in seeing how Wright holds up against that defense and is Jenkins playing?
  11. Game 1 is not often talked about but we came out and touched Beckett for 4 runs in the first but they slammed Zambrano for 3 homers and 5 runs in the 3rd. Z had allowed just 9 HR in 214 IP and that was a shocker to see. Then Sammy blasted Urbina to tie it in the 9th and erase the narrative around him as a postseason-nothing (even though it was 15 AB lol) and it felt like we were gonna win until Guthrie threw an absolutely awful pitch to Lowell for the eventual GW. I always look at that 2003 team and imagine if we had had the 400 ISO Sammy from just 2 years prior, they probably win 95 games and clinch a couple weeks earlier. Sosa was a 10 win player in 01 and a 3 win player in 03.
  12. Dbacks are pouncing.
  13. Rays powerful offense was completely neutralized
  14. horsefeathers the Cover 2
  15. Would any team try Soler at 1B?
  16. We don't know that he wouldn't be absolutely horrendous at 1B too though. See Vlad.
  17. I'm thinking maybe he was lumping Machado in with that, but he was just a 2 month rental
  18. I think Freddie Freeman got 60 doubles for a very good reason. He is probably the best at directional hitting without sacrificing quality of contact. Freeman is a 142 hitter with a career BABIP of 344 and a LD rate of 28 v 18 for Soto. Soto has a career GB rate of almost 50% and has put up an LA above 10 once in his career. There should probably be more like a ~40 point difference in BABIP but I think most of the tale is told in those statistics. He definitely has to get that LD rate up to the ~20 and he would see a nice rise in BABIP. He ranked 125th in LD rate. I think your numbers are pretty much spot-on, however. 35 AAV will probably be around where he ends up. Some team might give him more years but I doubt he takes less than 10. He is so bad in LF that I don't think you lose that much overall value moving him to 1B. He should still be a 5 win player on the offense alone for several seasons.
  19. Pretty sure Ohtani is everyone's #1 priority; they just don't believe the Cubs will wade in those waters.
  20. Carroll is a beast
  21. Kudos to the Brewers for not caving under the pressure of facing Brandon Pfadt in a critical game
