  1. Fair points; not gonna regurgitate how I feel about the offense right now. Just hope the ace-level pitching across the rotation somehow continues.
  2. And again in less than a week. Pains me to say but it's plausible that we are at 500 when we face the Cardinals in 2 weeks.
  3. Yeah that's 5 of our 20ish most interesting pitching prospects going on the same day.
  4. Thanks for this information. Nico and Tauchman probably account for 80% of that oppo%,
  5. To me this is an issue with all of our hitters except Nico and Tauchman. None of them ever seem to sit on an outside pitch/zone and hit it with authority. We have to be near the bottom in oppo SLG, possibly last in oppo HR from RHB. Too many guys looking middle-in.
  6. Their biggest issue by far is fastballs. According to Statcast they are 6th worst against 4 seams and 7th worst against sinkers. I'm not sure how to parse it for velocity but clearly they really struggle against it far worse than the average team. The thing is, they only really thrive against cutters and they're middle of the pack against breaking and offspeed. Add it all up and they're a slightly better than average offense that has been sharply trending downward for several weeks. Happ, Swanson, the catcher position are absolutely killing us is how I see it. Happ needs to get his HR stroke going and his numbers will blow up. Since the grand slam he's hit 183/329/200/70 with 1 double in 73 PA. Allowing far too many PA end in a walk or K and simply not being aggressive enough on pitches in the zone. Swanson is at 176/243/275/52 since his little 10 game hot start. Amaya and especially Gomes have been aboslutely atrocious. Gomes has a whopping 0:21 BBK in just 55 PA. You can't continue to play that. See what Casali or the other dude can do. They might suck equally but give it a shot.
  7. I feel very unconfident that we will touch Jones or Skenes
  8. I hope Jed just hate-texts Theo for a few hours when he watches Cease against us. 12 IP vs us this year, 0 ER 3 H 15 K
  9. I believe he was the #1 prospect in MLB for 2 straight years.
  10. I disagree that it's the end of a slump or that pitchers will move on from attacking that zone. He could easily go 1 for his next 20 and slumps don't just end when a player hits a HR, but this article is so spot-on. Just watching his ABs over the last few weeks you could see the pattern emerging. Pitchers would start him off with a backdoor breaking ball or cutter and then relentlessly pound that up-and-away zone. I am happy that he made them pay - what I would like to see is for him to sit on more pitches in that zone, and crush them to LCF. I think he gets too pull-happy. Especially at home, it would behoove him to take advantage of the shortest LCF in the league. Getting too pull-happy forced a lot of whiffs and ground balls.
  11. Then why do teams do it? Even with Uber prospects. You don't have to let a dude languish for weeks. Sometimes a reset can do them a world of good. He has options; I hope it's not entirely ruled out.
  12. Because of the 50% K rate over the last few weeks
  13. I said Busch should be demoted and I stand by it
  14. A Nico flyball to CF probably has a .01 XBA
  15. Wooooo That was a really stupid attempt to get an extra base.
  16. Busch needs to be optioned. Let him get into a groove in Iowa. Like all Cubs he is defeated easily by high four seams
  17. Teams are gonna be scrambling to create their own version of him lol
  18. The least competitive AB possible after a really good PA last time. PCA got 3 good pitches to hit and didn't even take a swing.
  19. The article was clearly written before last night's game, FWIW. He's up to 220/315/449/117. He has vastly improved the BBK, from a career .3 to a .6, which is highly encouraging, None of the defensive metrics seem to think he's decent at 3B, but if he can hit 120 and be a 2-2.5 guy I guess you live with it.
