  1. He got boned on the walk to Alonso but most of these are just uncompetitive pitches.
  2. Please let that end his slump. Good horsefeathers Morel!
  3. Baseball gods reward Swanson for chasing 3 straight balls
  4. Yeah Swanson, Morel, and Happ are depressing right now. Though kudos to you, Ian, for breaking up the perfect game. Now please remember how to hit.
  5. A few things; 1. I was thinking Vazquez might deserve a look so they can IL Morel. If Morel has all of these maladies, he's probably not going to bounce back without real rest. He is a better hitter than his line suggests IMO but his line is awful right now. However I realized Vazquez has been a dead-pull groundball hitter. I think he needs to get that flyball rate up before the Cubs give him a shot. MLB will most likely eat him up. Slaughter OTOH appears to be distributing his BIP much more evenly and holds just a 33% GB rate so far. I think a call-up should be in consideration. 2. Did you notice a change in how Shaw was pitched this week? It feels like his wheelhouse is the outer 3rd as he loves to let a pitch get deep and crank it oppo. Was he getting a ton of inside pitches? 3. Triantos had quite a week, hitting 350 with a 440 ISO and just 1 K. Not gonna knock him for not walking when you mash like that. 4. Mo is a beast. Just 50 PA so far, but I say goddamn.
  6. Mookie is insane. 2.7 fwar in 30 games played and his defense has been about neutral. Bonds is the only player to clear 12 fwar in a season since Babe Ruth.
  7. Swanson's line for the week: 261/292/391 Wauchman's line: 409/552/864 Wauchman is the only batter to get 20+ PA last week and produce an average or better line. The output from the bats we should be able to count on was horrific. Morel - 92 Swanson - 92 Happ - 60 Nico - 55 Busch - 17 It's amazing that we won the games that we did.
  8. Swanson, Happ, and Morel need to figure it out. Those guys can't be posting 600 ops.
  9. The Cubs could use a Brent Suter fungible LHRP too
  10. Then everything won't be so prone to randomness
  11. I think they're gonna want Pickens and Dexter to get a lot of snaps. I think they go Edge or interior OL. Trading up for Van Pran would be awesome.
  12. Every athlete is injury prone. Why don't you just post in existing threads?
  13. I don't think he was that. He's a security blanket for a rookie WR. He is always open. It's gonna be hell on defenses to cover him and Moore and still be able to account for the other weapons. Caleb is walking into a dream situation.
  14. This will be an interesting matchup. The Red Sox don't like to throw fastballs, the Cubs aren't that great vs fastballs, the Red Sox lean heavily on cutters, the Cubs feast on cutters. Hopefully they feast on Kutter.
  15. Worthy with Mahomes should be interesting. Pretty sure he would have been extremely underwhelming on about 25 of the other teams.
  16. No they don't. Fans love a good tank these days. They should hope that their only assets perform well and bring them some interesting prospects.
  17. Outstanding, Hayden. One of the best plays I've ever seen a pitcher make
  18. Going down looking there wouldn't have been the worst thing in the world, Pete.
  19. Let the kid get his first hit already. That's probably part of what's been weighing him down. He's been awful for the last 3 months of his baseball career and he's not used to it. But imagine you 0-fer in your cup of coffee and then have that stew in your brain for 6 months. That's gotta horsefeathers you up pretty good mentally.
