  1. Fg had an article on Fried recently highlighting how often he no-hits his opponents. I believe the last time the Cubs scored a run off a lefty was the 10th. We have been absolutely manhandled since and we've faced several.
  2. Probably happened on that missed diving catch
  3. PCA just hit one to the warning track in dead center. Just missed one.
  4. P|icks up his 6th K to escape the jam
  5. And an IF single that BJ Murray saved from being a double down the line
  6. You said yourself: look at what he did to MiLB hitters and look at the tools playing against MLB hitters. To be frank, they're not. And I question how much value he will bring to the pen this year even though I was a big proponent of Little's all through last year and I have never advocated against him getting opportunities. I'm not sure he has the command to be the dominant guy he was in MiLB. It's an objective fact though that Jed hasn't acquired a significant LHRP since Justin Wilson. On the topic of us giving up too soon on RP, Jeremiah Estrada certainly looks like a horrible move.
  7. You can probably live in the 10-12 BB% range, but Little is over 17. 2 of the top 30 have a higher rate. He also has 3 WP and 3 HBP in 12 IP. 16 free base-runners in 12 IP is awful. And to boot he has a sub-20 K rate, 25% oswing, and 76% contact rate. Maybe you didn't actually kinda already know?
  8. It's hard to see those numbers next to Cade's name
  9. People love to criticize his piecemeal bullpen construction but it's very effective. The one thing Jed has really ignored though is a quality lefty there. Hoping obviously that Little becomes that guy but I think the odds are against it because he's so wild. I would have (and thought highly of the move at the time) loved to have seen Jed be the guy to steal Bummer. Still Neris and Almonte look like good pickups, Miller is like Cuas with far better control, Leiter is a real feather in the cap snatched off the gurney, same with Merryweather, who I think will play a huge role once he's healthy. Even though they lack that dominant lefty, if you had 2023 Alzolay with this group you'd have one of the best pens in the league, mostly on scrap pickups. Jed is really good at getting Hottovy the right players to mold. It takes a little time to come together but it usually does.
  10. Smyly pitched 3 clean innings with 5 Ks. I feel like Christian Hernandez's season is really flying under the radar. He's only 20 and has shown big improvement in his plate discipline. Should be at AA next year at 21 with an arrow pointing up. Any idea how his defense has looked?
  11. He's got some competition for sure. Sale looks vintage (2 ER 43:2 KBB in last 5 starts), Wheeler and Suarez are absolutely dominating, and Glasnow is on a near-300 K pace. It's gonna be a really good race.
  12. I'm sour on Amaya. If he can't curb his chases and start to do damage with a high fastball (theme of the team) then I doubt he will ever provide the type of offense we hope he will. And he is an automatic green light for pretty much every runner. I'm not sure good framing outweighs any of that.
  13. I was never cool with how easily we discarded Jeremiah Estrada after he showed huge swing and miss stuff and then had a little stumble on his first taste of MLB. Looking like a pretty decent miss by Hoyer. Closed for the Padres tonight and struck out the side hitting 98, sub-1 ERA so far. Hoyer gave up way too soon on that guy.
  14. He missed some pitches but honestly they got a Wrigley LCF special and a gift run from Seiya's gaffe. He was probably better than his line showed.
  15. You don't have to give up a XBH to start every inning Justin
  16. Gonna be a fun summer, these guys are gonna start getting shots with this depleted roster
  17. Personally it's always sort of bugged me to hear a player "finally broke out of his slump" when he hits a homer. I'm pointing it out here for that particular reason. IDK.
  18. Since he "broke out of his slump" with the walkoff he has been a 60 hitter with a 42% K rate/.15 BBK. I still think he needs a reset, but I don't think they would do it. He's deeply entrenched in that slump, though. Defensively he's probably gonna be fine. The team might want to get Cody more starts at 1B though.
  19. I think it's pretty apt. We passed on him for Moore and a shot at Williams. We declaratively chose Williams over all of these guys.
