  1. That's right. Either way I'd be fine with him allocating the money like that.
  2. If they have 45 to spend I'm not wasting it on the bench. Boyd gets 7.5 this year anyway, plus the 5M bonus. So doesn't he count as 7.5 AAV, or is it 12.5? Either way Boyd 12.5 Flaherty 21 Robertson or Scott 10 Works for me. Trade for pre-arb bench help.
  3. Steele Shota Flaherty Taillon Boyd/Wicks/Assad/Brown, etc.
  4. I hate the idea of spending on bench players anyway. I'm using Cowles, Canario, or other internal options, and looking at possible trades, The Cubs entire top of the farm is in Iowa already. I'm leaving room for them to be integrated. I also think a guy like Triantos could be far more valuable than we expect, based on recent defensive reports. The guy can be played at many positions and brings high contact with good speed. Good bench player. Shaw will also get a lot of time on the roster, as well as Alcantara, potentially.
  5. If they had 50 to spend I would take 14.5 on Boyd and heard Flaherty is looking at 3/63, so I would take Robertson at 10 or a LHRP option and call it a day, leave a few mil for TDL if necessary, wouldn't care much. They showed they aren't afraid to go over even if they do it in a strange manner. Scour the market for a pre-arb C for trade.
  6. I so would have preferred Flaherty. If they still get him, then I can get behind the rotation, even if there is a huge risk to the strategy. I personally wouldn't spend anything on the bench except for possibly C depth but even then I hate the expenditure and would rather find a guy via trade who won't cost 6-8M. I'll wait to see what other SP they add because there are so many scenarios but I am perplexed by this move to a large degree even if he has been very effective when available.
  7. What has this guy done to earn trust in this? This org lol
  8. I want to know why they tried to turn Moore into a gadget player after the season he had and the extension they gave him. If I were Poles - or any player - this would have pissed me off to no end.
  9. Where does this aversion to firing coaches come from. Wouldn't you be more concerned with every publication horsefeathers roasting your org, McCaskets?
  10. Only an Eberflus team can get 1-10 at the opponent 13 and not even attempt a FG without turning the ball over.
  11. 3 of the most egregious losses I've ever seen watching 35 years of football happened in the last 5 weeks
  12. There's no excuse any NFL QB should make that throw.
  13. What a huge game for Brown's resume if he helps engineer a 99 yd ge drive against a 10-1 team
  14. That's possibly the best touch pass he's had all season
  15. Seems like you're downplaying the fact that Jed plays in the safe/cheap tier because of reasons other than budget and that's disingenuous to me. 13, 15, it's all the same.
  16. Stop dude, the Shota tier is 15-20M AAV on a short-term. Stop acting like they're not fundamentally out on the creme de la creme due to budget constraints.
  17. This is exactly how I said it would be, so I am not surprised at all. I am very anxious, however, to see how Jed moves in the trade market. FA will be boring. But Jed should be a major player in those needle-shifting trade talks. I hope he realizes he can't keep hoarding all the prospects.
  18. That spin move that Turpin busted was so perfect.
  19. Is it worth discussing strapping a prospect to him?
  20. Jed likely targeted Cowles in the deal because he figured he could contribute to the MLB team in 2025 and he knew that he would have to be added to the 40 all the way. Jed knew when Adbert's arm blew out he had probably thrown his last pitch as a Cub and he knew he wasn't gonna keep Brennen around unless he had stayed healthy, highly productive, and contributed to the MLB club. The reality is these decisions were made many months ago.
  21. I wonder how many teams have lost games on last second hail maries and blocked FGs in their existence, let alone in the span of 4 weeks. Like how many teams have had both of those happen? I bet it's a short list. I feel like no other team has done it in a single season. This is Mike Brown consecutive pick-6 level of randomness. I can't even imagine what will complete the trifecta, but something is coming.
