  1. Bowden Francis has had 2 no-hit bids broken up in the 9th inning in his last 4 starts. First pitcher since Nolan to have that happen in a season, let alone a few weeks time. Googled how many times Nolan had that happen in his career and 5 is the answer. That man was simply insane, nearly had 12 no-hitters. I'd love to know how his stuff graded.
  2. Chances he signs a minor league deal with us?
  3. Last night I said to myself, I'm kind of surprised PCA hasn't gotten a fg article yet https://blogs.fangraphs.com/its-all-about-makin-that-pca/ A+ for the title
  4. Now in a stretch of 150 PA/quarter's season worth of a 149 wRC+ with a sub-20 K rate and a 91 EV. Just immensely surprising in-season development. I have a hard time believing he won't be a leage-average hitter, at least, and feel deep down he will be more in the 120 range in his prime. Potential for being a top 10 position player by fwar is definitely there.
  5. It sucks that he can only rob homers on the road.
  6. Or maybe Hawkins just didn't want to trade for Paredes and lose Bigge and Johnson (whoa, look at his A+ numbers with TBR)
  7. Teven barely had a double-digit pass-pro grade. That OL could definitely be our downfall offensively.
  8. Kyle says they can't beat me if I walk the big 3
  9. Because he's playing under the best coach he ever has
  10. NGL seeing that Nix threw for 130 on 42 drop backs eases my frustration a bit. For whatever reason, passing around the league seemed down across the board.
  11. Imagine if Caleb had thrown a pass like Levis did on the pick 6... Honestly gotta be in the top 3 of stupidest throws I've ever seen.
  12. Well the early returns on the big move of the off-season look fantastic. Darrell Taylor had a monster game and looks like a huge piece of the defense.
  13. On a play like that you just dive down to the ground, not retreat 10 more yards. You should never take a 20 yard sack unless it's a bad snap.
  14. The bust talk is gonna be so horsefeathers loud. 30 something drop backs and not even 100 yards. I didn't watch a second but I have a hard time believing he didn't leave 100 more yards on the field. And taking a 20 yard sack? Wooooof
  15. I'm pretty scared. This is abysmal. Actually it's the same horsefeathers we are used to. And Levis is handily playing better. Everything horsefeathers sucks.
  16. Nice way to find a way into the record books after 150 years
  17. Goddamn your ceaseless effort to separate yourself from the pack is exhausting. Nobody here talks like that. You look really stupid doing it.
  18. I was pretty much gonna say the same. We've played that slumpbuster role a few times this year. He's primed to blow up.
  19. Funny you mention that about desiring high-level athletes at every position. I just read that the Padres are currently fielding a team with 7 guys whose primary position throughout their early pro career - and many have logged a lot of MLB innings there as well - was shortstop. I found it pretty fascinating. I don't know what to expect of Busch offensively next year and moving forward but I love seeing that he has become an elite defender. I feel like he should be a 120-130 bat.
  20. That would be a top 10 position player. I'm thinking he'll be closer to a 450 SLG, but he does hit a shitload of fly balls to the pull-side. For a guy that just adopted that approach a couple years ago he's pretty phenomenal at it. IDK man, I've been probably a bit overzealous with my enthusiasm for him at times but I'm confident he is going to be at least average at the plate. The total package is so exciting.
  21. What do you guys think the plan for Pearson is? He's made 10 appearances for us now and the 3 HR stand out (as still being an issue), but so do the 2 walks. From a usage quick view, they favor his slider over his cutter significantly, nothing else really stands out. I wonder if he gets a shot to start,
