  1. I'm honestly not sure it's the offense. Is a "big bat" really required? If you look across the league, there are several teams putting up big offensive numbers without the usual suspects carrying them. Sometimes those big offensive seasons come from unexpected sources. Any team can get lucky and stumble onto them at times. AZ has Marte but their best hitter has been Joc inexplicably putting up a 153 Jurickson Profar paces the Padres with a 144 O'Neill leads with a 140 I think you can absolutely be a top offensive team if you have a lineup of 110-130 guys. Just for whatever reason like clockwork our hitters tend to slump in clumps and it goes on for way too long. The pen early-on and our 2 month offensive slump knocked this team out of playoff contention. But I don't believe that if just 1 of those hitters maintained a 150+ bat throughout that time that it would have made a significant difference.
  2. I love that he's so malleable and hungry to adapt. I am curious, what percentage of his HR allowed have come on the fastball? It feels like almost all of them are, and they are typically and unsurprisingly on pitches that catch too much of the heart and not enough edge or shadow.
  3. 2nd inning and Busch is the only Cub without a hit
  4. It's slightly annoying that Chourio is having a better 2nd half surge. Looking like one of the best early extensions handed out with his expected development. Still PCA's progress is so fun to dream on.
  5. Also of note: Heliot Ramos became the first RHB ever to hit a HR into McCovey Cove.
  6. In the top of the 10th with 2 outs and just the ghost runner at 2B last night the DBacks chose to IBB Turang and pitch to Chourio. Chourio ripped a triple to take the lead. What a monumentally stupid decision by a really good Manager. Then the Brewers guy walked the bases loaded with 0 outs in B10, hit the next batter, and Murphy left Williams in the pen as Suarez hit a GW shot off the wall. 2 really dumbfounding decisions.
  7. I never felt that good about the Wright selection so him sucking is just annoying me a ton. Our offense is in big trouble if that OL continues like this. If the OL does belly-up and teams dominate TOP, our defense will get worn out.
  8. Cody opt out, trade for Rooker (Alcantara probably in play, I assume they would want Brown or Horton), sign Flaherty, Robertson, Scott, Minter Plumb every inch of the possible upgrades at C (incl Rushing and other young prospects), but I don't think there's a lot that can be done there. PCA - CF Happ - LF Seiya - RF Rooker - DH Busch - 1B Swanson - SS Paredes - 3B Nico - 2B Amaya or addition Steele, Flaherty, Shota, Taillon, Assad and crew This is a lot of $ to spend on a pen from where I traditionally stand, but I am a huge believer in Robertson and I see LHRP as the staff's biggest weakness, especially if Little doesn't rebound.
  9. Really gotta navigate the Rooker/Butler duo wth great caution. Although
  10. Every offense is gonna have a few successful plays and move the chains here and there. They have 0 explosive plays. They've scored 23 points. They've been horrific.
  11. Poles did all of that work only to leave an OL much like the 09-11 (I think) J Webb days.
  12. Then you should admit there have been no flashes
  13. 1 TD on a short field in 7 quarters is crap dude lol
  14. Put Tyson in there. Not even kidding.
  15. You don't see any flashes, be honest. They've been absolute dog horsefeathers. Poles tarnished a lot of the good work he did by the total crap that is the OL. Passing on Stroud to gain some more picks is looking like a huge miss. and I say that as someone who was all about trading 1.1.
  16. What a fun box score for the Iowa hitters
  17. He'd get a combine invite Probably run a 4.6 or 4.7 I'd guess a higher percentile with the 3-cone, 7.0 High vert and broad jump for sure 20-25 reps Impressive receiver drills 6th-UDFA sounds probable
  18. Apparently he was relegated to bp duty and told teammates he just wanted the season to be over with. What a dipshit.
  19. Sometimes I wonder where a guy like Payton would be drafted these days, or if he even would be at all.
  20. How many of those were against the horsefeathers Packers
  21. That was a preposterously stupid steal attempt. Totally ready for Tommy Edman to win a silver slugger with the Dodgers. What a horsefeathers joke.
