  1. Most guys at this talent level just won't make it to FA anymore so you have to take your shot when you have it. Like cuzi said, they already missed the boat on Betts (one of the biggest robberies of all-time and could have really kept us in the upper echeleon if we made that trade instead), Harper, Seager, Ohtani, Soto, etc.. These shots are drying up, teams are really good at extending early. He's young, dynamic, and has a skillset that doesn't need any protection. Make it happen, Jed.
  2. Well FWIW maybe it gives the team the boost needed to swing the division. And if they suck he can recoup a lot at the deadline. We just saw it happen with Cease didnt we?
  3. I'm prepared for this to hurt a lot but this is Jed's last shot at a real impact franchise player and he's gotta get it done. Paredes Caissie Smith Whoever Biggest haul in MLB trades in quite a while. Mostly because Paredes is hard to gauge. His profile doesn't sit well with me in Wrigley though.
  4. They very well might get Smith. The Cubs can't protect everyone.
  5. I said it before if the Yanks win this race they will likely do it with a surprising package. They have some other intriguing ML talent they could offer and just dip back into FA to backfill.
  6. Now, there's really no other way to interpret the Seiya and Paredes part there, other than they want both. You would think by now there would be a OR delineation. What the horsefeathers Astros?
  7. He needs to get uncomfortable
  8. They rarely make a R5 pickn so that's sort of interesting
  9. If the Astros say they won't do it without him then Happy Gilmore's caddy can start looking for houses in Houston
  10. Man I make that trade all day.
  11. Hard not to be enthralled right now. If Jed turned Morel and Bigge into the lead piece for Tucker that's a nice feather in the cap.
  12. It's crazy how little we got for an expiring 3-time 7 WAR player who had bounced back from a disastrous pandemic campaign
  13. Giants and Phillies in the mix too. That would be quite impressive if the Giants landed him and Adames in the same offseason.
  14. I think Squally nailed it - they should have a fuckton of interest in Paredes. So I'm out on offering Alcantara, I want him as CF insurance in case we trade Belli and PCA goes down or sucks. Caissie would be my 2nd piece and they can have virtually any pitcher in our system and we take Pressly. Sound good?
  15. Jed has the ammo to beat any offer for Tucker but I'm really pessimistic on him actually doing it. Feels a bit like last winter with the Guardians and Clase/Bieber. I know he has a lot of maneuvering to do still but something is telling me to brace for blue balls again.
  16. I can't imagine the Yankees missing out on Tucker and facilitating the trade to bring him to another team. I think they'd be separate deals also.
  17. I'm just not sure Jed has the guts. Cashman will give them everything they want and extend him this month.
  18. Bad news is the Yankees have a history of getting things done no matter the cost but often for less than is usually expected somehow as well.
  19. The Daniels move was so incredibly stupid and then he horsefeathered it up more by spending a bunch of cap on horsefeathers and blocking compensation
  20. Pretty sure I read it, and it just said we checked in on his availability.
  21. Yep, he should be punished appropriately for his draft record and ignoring critical positions in FA. New article suggests he might just resign after the year being that he'll be a neutered lame duck. That's actually plausible to me. The McCaskeys are to blame yet again for hiring Warren and in general for stringing Poles along. Poles hates the guy and this year has had to watch the HC who approached him with interest, but was rejected by the unqualified CEO out of horsefeathers spite, put his moribund franchise into the playoff picture. Warren has been as useless as Acorsi and Polian and yet has unilateral authority because he negotiated a stadium deal in the past. Only the McCaskeys could create a clusterfuck like this.
  22. So did Bedard get ruined by the jaw shot?
  23. Trades like that happen. 1 big piece, another former prospect with a little tarnish, and another top 10 guy. I know you believe Wicks is underrated but this is probably selling fairly on him. He's intriguing but doesn't appear to have enough tricks in the bag, he doesn't profile well for the pen, the Cubs have 4 SP ahead of him and are trying to add a 5th. Don't you think he's already on the bubble?
