  1. I'm completely with Kyle. If we see signficant forward progress from our 2nd and 3rd year defensive players then I can see the defense matching the budding reputation. If they are just largely JAGs, I can see them being just average. And that can significantly alter the entire team outlook. Guys like Gordon, Brisker, Dexter - if they turn in good seasons, the defense should be stout, The offense could easily get upended by the OL. Wright needs to be an absolute stud, IMO. There's more dynamic players than we've had since the early Trestman days but if Davis and Jenkins can't stay on the field, Wright is mediocre, etc., then it will be tough sledding. Pass pro has me on edge. Poles' bread-and-butter was supposed to be the trenches and I would say that is where I am the most concerned on both sides of the ball.
  2. That makes 5 no-hitters in the last 9 years for the Cubs, which is insane considering how long we waited for Z's performance. In the last 4, the Cubs have averaged 11 runs scored lmao
  3. PCA or Dansby has to get that freaking triple man
  4. Has to. I'm curious who had the tie and who was the last to win.
  5. Flopping in September is beyond played out, Cubs
  6. I'd like to know the real measurements on both of those guys. Alcantara looks like one of the smallest 6'6 athletes I can recall. Lot of work still to be done to fill out that uniform. Mo's height just really intrigues me.
  7. Did Chapman really just get away with 93 center-cut to Seiya...
  8. I like how Smith hits an XBH in 60% of his games. Keep doing that, kid.
  9. Lawrence Butler had his 2nd 3-HR game of the season last night and the 3rd one was an absolute bomb to blow a save for Diaz in the 9th. Butler is 23 and look at his season split from pre and post 7/1: Thru 7/1: 179/260/269, 2 HR in 150 PA After 7/1: 313/354/682, 17 HR in 192 PA and this includes a 14 game stretch in which he hit 213/259/298 lol Sitting at a 135 for the season and he's been hot garbage for a large portion of the season. Really crazy looking at his game log.
  10. I didn't realize they had a slaughter-rule. Him and Sanders allowed nearly 2 runs for every out they recorded 18:10 lmfao
  11. I was against it but in hindsight signing Chapman instead would have been big for the the team
  12. Tom's gonna love this one but if PCA finishes the year hot, I wonder if you start talking extension, being that his performance has been uneven, and there's potential for quite a bit of surplus.
  13. I swear this dude could pull a slider heading for the opposite batters box into the stands. He is incredible at getting the bat on plane and barrel out in front of any pitch type and somehow pulling outside pitches. Burnes threw his first slider of the AB, away from Shohei, and he recognized it immediately and pummeled it.
  14. PCA has been the 8th most valuable position player in August, ahead of Merrill but behind Duran for CF. His wRC+ is 15th, slotted between those 2 again. That is all while improbably carrying a top 30 K rate. Oh and Shelton mentioned they IBBd him because PCA has handled the high fastball well.
  15. Gray got 10 outs, 8 by strikeout, and walked 6 lol
  16. Yes his floor is stupid-high, and we are seeing that he ceiling is as well. From a WAR standpoint he has the highest ceiling in the organization pretty easily.
