  1. Am I reading the situation right? It sounds like he wants to stay in the middle of the country somewhere and will not go east or west. The mystery team is in one of the central divisions.
  2. If this happens I imagine they would trade Nico to SEA, no? This would really block Shaw, unless they are just trying to pull a Bellinger again and rent him for a year or something.
  3. Wouldn't be surprised if the Reds are in on it. They're supposedly competition for Estevez as well.
  4. Yeah I really like Pressly, I'd be down for this. I think he's a good fit. I'm a little susprised they weren't able to expand the Tucker deal to include him. It wasn't exactly a secret that he was available.
  5. I could not be more bored with every post-Tucker transaction.
  6. Just read the article that basically said Ohtani led the push hard for L.A. They pulled out all the stops and appealed to his senses in several ways. Why rent out the biggest sushi restaurant in town (like TOR did for Ohtani) when you can just have a minority owner open his mansion and hire the best sushi chefs? Magic Johnson lives and breathes L.A. in a way the GOAT never does for Chicago. He got in on the recruiting. The team has made the postseason for a decade straight, are the defending champs, have 2 of the most prominent legends from the NPB already, a massive Japanese-American population, has the best development system in the league, has unlimited resources and 100% willingness from the owners to do whatever it takes to keep getting better. It was pretty much a foregone conclusion.
  7. Go super hard in FA. I mean spend it all. Besides the guys chasing rings we should be the prime destination to every FA. Plug every damn hole you can.
  8. How do you not pivot right to Yates after losing Scott. Is our interest level not as high becuase he's RH?
  9. Jed could have landed those guys and instead chose the quantity approach. I am so annoyed.
  10. My comment was criticizing Caleb, not Daniel's. His comp% was only ok for a rookie because he lived in the 0-10 yard range. Anything beyond that he was historically inaccurate.
  11. Under 10 yards, sure.
  12. Yates and Robertson please. Stop horsefeathers around. Estevez is meh.
  13. You guys make too many excuses for Caleb whose accuracy was historically awful. That wasn't all because he couldn't set his feet and square his shoulders to throw before the rush got to him.
  14. I legit feel like they should win 130 games and make a mockery of the league.
  15. I would have been fine with that contract for Minter.
  16. I hate it too. It needs to be an acronym. Just use ED for Edge Defender, I guess. Unless there are words for GE I am unaware of and it's been a full acronym the entire time.
  17. Well you want explosive athletes that also have a good approach at the plate and Hope definitely showed that. But that is an insane jump. It looks stupid right now.
  18. Random - and this is just an observation and not a complaint or lamentation - but do we have the least amount of Latin American representation on a team in the league? I count Amaya and Assad as the only 2 major contributors. As many as we have Japanese players. If Brujan makes the team we have 3. We have to have the whitest team in the league. Our lack of ability to develop LA talent is pretty astonishing. On the 40 you also have Palencia, Vazquez, Canario, and Alcantara and only 1 of them was drafted/signed by the Cubs.
  19. Youre being obnoxious. Your stance on his market has been inaccurate. 2 weeks ago it was we're not gonna give out a 5-6 year contract, then it was shown to you he has a cold market, now you're saying we're not gonna give him a 4-5 year deal the same morning articles are saying he might be looking at a short-term deal. I don't need to be repeatedly told that I'm dreaming. It literally feels like you're still going by November projections and I don't care to hear it. If Jed is stupid enough to roll out with this rotation - and I don't see Jed trading for any worthy names on the market because the league doesn't value our prospects on a commensurate level- and I'm not even counting Roki - then I'm gonna be mad. Hopefully that doesn't happen.
  20. Ok so I don't need you to remind me you like making inaccurate declarative statements every time I mention wanting to acquire him
  21. Sure then if that's your prerogative.
  22. Look dude, It's pretty horsefeathers clear we have a foundational disagreement on Flaherty's market and I keep being proven right. You've taken November projections as hard-fact. I have been completely realistic in my hopes. Damn near every winter we have these guys who have spotty track-records being left in the cold on the market when they seek long-term deals. Flaherty definitely falls in that bucket. We shouldn't have jumped the market on Matt Boyd and spent so much of our cap on tertiary pieces. We should have added as many impactful players as we could. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/01/anthony-santander-jack-flaherty-reportedly-open-to-short-term-offers.html Per Rosenthal and Sammon, outfielder Anthony Santander and right-hander Jack Flaherty are both now open to considering that sort of deal. Sammon also confirmed previous reports that indicated the camp of first baseman Pete Alonso had made an three-year offer to the Mets that includes multiple opt-outs, though it remains unclear if he’s open to similar short-term offers from other clubs at this point. However I keep thinking about that blurb from a couple weeks ago that spoke about not adding any long-term contracts until the new CBA is set. The way they are operating it seems like they are only interested in inking 1 and 2 year deals, and it is incredibly frustrating. I am not a fan of Ricketts or Hoyer at this point. Still a couple months to change my mind though.
  23. I'm a little on edge. I said it all along that I preferred to take a quality over quantity approach. If he doesn't come away with one of Scott, Yates, Minter, or Robertson I'll be flatly pissed. I still want Flaherty.
