  1. Damn. I don't think we can trust CJ in a close game in the playoffs again. His control issues might never go away.
  2. I don't understand why Maddon has Russell batting fourth today. Please score some runs...
  3. Yeah, I'm not arguing he's been good or anything. Whatever word you want to use. I said decent. You said mediocre. We can go with that. I think he's good enough to give us 5 innings and keep us in a game in October. (And I think he can get better, since he's been better his whole career.) Mainly, he hasn't been hit as hard since around mid-May and the results (ERA) have been better. His exit velocity numbers and batted ball data looked really bad at the start of the year. Since then, it's mostly been the walks, which have stayed around all year. Not forgiving the walks, because they are bad, but he can survive with our defense if he isn't getting hit hard. It’s just crazy that what you described above is the starter we feel best about right now on a team with the best record in the NL We feel the best about Quintana right now? Seriously? I still trust Hendricks more in a big playoff game and if Hamels shows the same stuff he did in the first game I'd prefer him over Quintana as well. Still too early to say Hamels over Quintana definitively.
  4. They got claimed on waivers and the Padres were like, "Sure take them...we don't care" lol.
  5. I'm glad we have players like Pedro Strop on our team. I feel like Dexter was the same way -- a big morale booster and great all-around teammate.
  6. Three starters to above average players in their early 20s cost controlled plus an Amaya & pitching prospect doesnt get you close? Trout is awesome but these superstar deals never fetch as much as people always guarantee they will cost. Some teams can offer better prospects that also very well may never end up close to as good as Russell & Happ. Trout isn't just a superstar... He's BY FAR the best player in MLB and in his prime. It would take an insane offer for the Angels to even consider trading him.
  7. [tweet] [/tweet] One of the best arms in the 2019 draft class. Multiple reports of him hitting triple digits during showcases.
  8. I was saying we shouldn't try to re-sign Wade Davis and that I was worried about his performance in the second-half of last season. There were a lot of ppl here who wanted the Cubs to re-sign him. We got lucky because this Cubs' FO was interested in bringing him back at the right cost before moving on to Brandon Morrow. He's toast and looks awful. Ottavino should be the Closer in Colorado if they had any common sense about how to preserve leads. Then again maybe Wade Davis blows it before they even get to the 9th inning...
  9. I typed into google "Kyle Hendricks excited" and didn't find anything remotely resembling a person being excited. I did find this gif though... http://i.imgur.com/uT2haSr.gif ^^^I've never seen this one before. http://i.imgur.com/9adT5Kc.gif Hopefully we see more of this from him tomorrow
  10. All of his slides are spectacular, but this one reached a new level even for Baez. It's crazy watching it even in slow motion.
  11. So I just saw that. Geez, this year just sucks for him. Probably done for the season. I hope he gets traded somewhere nice where he doesn't have to hear about his "lack of hustle" and all this other nonsensical crap.
  12. I like Bote; I don't want to trade him. I'm just not sure if he can keep up this level of production. I'm a big Beltre fan. Probably to an irrational level, and I know exactly how old he is. I still think he can be really productive and a plus defender at 3B. I think going to a contender would kind of rejuvenate him as well (at least for a couple months).
  13. Damn straight. Screw Arenado and those other posers.
  14. Javy is amazing, but I don't think we're winning another WS without a healthy KB. I expect him to come back this season -- I just don't know what version of KB we're getting. He might struggle with this problem the rest of the season and will need a full offseason of rest to allow it to heal. If KB really doesn't look right/isn't hitting at his normal awesome levels I'd recommend going back to the Texas well and making a trade for Adrian Beltre this month. The guy is still amazing defensively and I think he could be a big factor in the playoffs for us. Again, only if KB doesn't fully recover.
  15. That is awesome. Not subtle, but still awesome lol.
  16. :flythew: :flythew: :flythew: Cubs Win! Hamels looked awesome and I think he'll be a big part of our playoff rotation.
  17. PHANTOM DL ZONE -- that is where he belongs right now!!! EDIT: Fine. He did his job...
  18. [tweet] [/tweet]
  19. Keep them all and rotate them (or trade one for an area of need). The real answer is hope Happ and Bote can play CF and send Almora away. Happ could, or Heyward. But who would get us more, Russell or Almora? Not even close. Russell nets you more if you're just asking between those two. Some analytics-heavy teams love Russell for his defense. You should ask who would get you more between Happ or Almora.
  20. They look more like cousins to me. Cole doesn't look that old...
  21. They seem to be taking it extra careful with Morrow, he isn’t even throwing yet. So he might not be back until rosters expand. Hopefully it’s sooner and everyone else is healthy so they can just cut Duensing or phantom DL him or Chatwood. Dude, just phantom DL both of them right now. They're useless...
  22. [tweet] [/tweet] I feel bad for him. Worst place he could go...
