  1. [tweet] [/tweet]This makes me sad. At his peak he was a legit contender for best pitcher in MLB.
  2. [tweet] [/tweet]Intriguing arm, but we're definitely taking an advanced bat in the first round. Too many good hitters in this draft.
  3. Indeed. They already do well with the lesser heralded guys who suddenly are throwing 100, now they're getting in on the top prospect in the last half decade types. [tweet] [/tweet]Damn. I keep reading this about Jasson Dominguez.
  4. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/more-2019-draft-rankings-updates/ There is more in the link above and I didn't post the full thing. I'm really happy they're making these updates almost a weekly thing now. They talk about SS Nasim Nunez and rising prospect 3B Keoni Cavaco. I occasionally chat with UK about draft prospects (and politics). I've liked Nunez for a few months now and mentioned him a few months ago while chatting with UK. UK said he's a rising prospect who could potentially be a "Dee Gordon-type hitter with better defense who sticks at SS" I believe. He's maybe the best defensive infielder in this draft class and a switch-hitter. Honestly, he just needs to get stronger and add some muscle. I don't think he's getting much bigger or an additional growth spurt, but that's okay. The power tool is the only tool scouts have listed as below-average. This is hyperbolic, but he kinda sorta reminds me of SS Francisco Lindor (from back in HS).
  5. [tweet]https://twitter.com/keithlaw/status/1103993740664950786[/tweet] [tweet]https://twitter.com/_rallycap/status/1103995308944617472[/tweet] [tweet]https://twitter.com/MattSchiavenza/status/1103996243603308544[/tweet] That's pretty good lol.
  6. Lol. I never said the math was hard... I just wanted to show it because people might not realize how much total surface area you'd be adding if they made this change. Again, I think it's a good thing.
  7. For 1B bigger so the runner has more space to step to avoid a collision? 2B with the new slide rule it helps protect the fielder a bit to give him more base to play with to hold it? 3B, no idea other than conformity. I've been thinking about this for awhile, but never really cared to write about it. I care way more about getting an automated strike zone. Yeah, the best thing (from my viewpoint) is that 1B will be a larger object so there's more space for the runner and first baseman to avoid a collison. It's scary sometimes when an errant throw might lead to a collision. I was also thinking a larger 2B might make stealing a little more viable if the runner has more surface area to keep contact with the bag/avoid the tag. You know this would definitely help Baez. Same thing with 3B -- bigger base might make stealing a little easier. Quick dirty math: 15 x 15 = 225 sq in^2, 18 x 18 = 324 sq in^2. So an increase of 99 inches. Not insignificant. It should be a good thing I think.
  8. The best part is yet to come. The next one on the scoring list for Lebron to pass... is horsefeathering Kobe Bryant. It'll occur at some point next season and I really hope it happens in LA. LA fans worship Kobe and you know it'll be awkward as hell. At least I hope it'll be awkward and weird.
  9. I don't think your "one level lower" idea is right on most of those players you listed. You're right about that concept, but most of these players will be assigned to lower levels IMO. I don't think Brennen Davis is starting at High-A. That's a really aggressive assignment. I wasn't even sure if he's ready for Low-A. I think Ademan and Amaya definitely start at High-A. Maybe Hoerner too. I have no clue where Hagerty will start the season in the minors. I was thinking High-A with a quick promotion if he's dominating and throwing strikes.
  10. I'll admit I was pulling for the Bulls to win last night. Something about Jimmy Butler pisses me off now. His personality has definitely changed. Maybe he's always been an horsefeathers and I just never noticed? On that last drive (for Philly), Jimmy actually hooks Zach's arm with his arm to draw the foul. Complete BS call. I think the Bulls have a lot of potential, and that this rebuild has gone decently well. I'm just worried GarPax can't take the next step to legit playoff contender without some lottery luck. Remember that the Bulls a decade ago were a solid playoff team led by Deng, Noah, Hinrich and Ben Gordon before one single disastrous season left them with 1.7% odds at the #1 pick (DRose). That's what changed everything for the Bulls. GarPax can't attract any big FAs and/or trade for a superstar that would be willing to sign an extension here. I'm worried they don't know how to "finish" the rebuild. So it's basically Zion and hope he develops into a star player. Otherwise, I think the Bulls become a playoff team next year. They're just not in the upper echelon of teams in the East. Will you be happy if they get the #6 seed and lose in the first round? Sadly, GarPax and M. Reinsdorf will be very happy with that result.
  11. Very cool. I like it.
  12. From the latest K. McDaniel chat on Fangraphs:
  13. I honestly thought we were trading him in the offseason. Guess his value was too low and teams were offering nothing for Almora. He really REALLY should not hit leadoff and I'm hoping Maddon learned something from last season (probably didn't).
  14. [tweet] [/tweet] Have fun playing in a great city with some amazing fans...
  15. Robot umps or bust Future generations are going to wonder how the horsefeathers did they allow humans to call strikes/balls... It's coming (automated K zone), but it's taking forever. Why can't we have a smart progressive Commish like Adam Silver?
  16. It sucks losing Serrano, but hopefully the Cubs can sign some good prospects in Mexico. We had a good pipeline going before MLB barred clubs from coming to agreements during this current signing period.
  17. That interview was so horsefeathering depressing. We're stuck with GarPax.
  18. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/instagraphs/another-draft-rankings-update/ I can almost guarantee the Cubs are taking a bat in this upcoming draft. This draft class is really lacking in the pitching department. I've said this before and this is just my opinion, but I think we suck at identifying/developing pitching prospects. It's just not one of our strengths...
  19. [tweet] [/tweet][tweet] [/tweet][tweet] [/tweet]----- [tweet] [/tweet]I'm very high on LHP Asa Lacy. I really like this pitcher and think he's improved a lot since HS. Not sure where he's listed in the early 2020 Draft rankings. Hope he stays healthy.

  23. http://www.espn.com/nba/insider/story/_/id/26102744/big-nba-draft-questions-no-2-pick I think generally most everyone has the next group (Tier II) as Ja Morant, RJ Barrett and Cam Reddish. I like Morant the best out of those three and think he could be the Bulls PG of the future (if they miss out on Zion). I've heard Russell Westbrook comps for Morant's upside. Not a big fan of Barrett or Reddish.
