  1. I've never encountered anyone that thought Almora was actually good. He never had enough tools to be taken seriously and the ones he had never developed enough (or at all) to matter. Maybe advancing to 2nd in the 10th inning of Game 7 sucked all the potential out of him.
  2. Blue Jays are desperate for Bullpen arms, LH hitting, SPing - Robertson + Ortega? Robertson + Happ? Robertson +Heyward? Is Hendricks available - would anybody care? No one is taking Hewyard unless the Cubs pay his salary. And he now has a bad knee. That's why he was in small font - it was a joke.

  4. He's gotten a little hot - 10/25, 3 dongs - lets see how long it lasts.
  5. I've long felt that draft strategy should entirely be based on how cool a players name is. I've now refined that somewhat and believe that the focus should be on players with animal names.
  6. Irrational Madrigal hatred quickly becoming rational. Barney > Madrigal - Discuss.
  7. Am I crazy or is Wilson great with nobody on and a tire fire otherwise? At least recently.
  8. Yes. When Brennen Davis is ready. So...Tuesday?
  9. o/u his OPS being 700 this year? Definitely under. 1.132 and they resign him for 3 more years.
  10. 0-4, 3 Ks. He hit a rocket line drive to the SS the other time up. BUST! Damnit, he was my last pick in my Yahoo draft. #-o
  11. Never trade with the Rays It's one of the classic blunders It's right up there with “Never get involved in a land war in Asia with a Sicilian when death is on the line” ;)
  12. I think I see the Wisdom in this move. ;)
  13. What stars has Colorado even had? Helton Walker Holliday Tulowitzki Arenado Gonzalez Blackmon Helton and Blackmon never played outside Colorado. Tulo and CarGo were fairly washed up before they left Colorado. The rest have put up good years in STL that weren’t otherwise up to their standards. It’s not much of a sample. True but there’s articles out there that analyze the performance of any player that leaves Colorado and their numbers in general do not change very much. What would be at least as telling to me is: Has any player ever left Colorado and had their numbers improve? Galarraga had his numbers jump significantly at age 32 - especially over his previous 4 seasons - once he hit Colorado - now he did have pretty similar numbers his first year in Atlanta as well.
  14. I like reading facebook comments from people that can't articulate a coherent or original thought so they make false equivalencies in the hopes of sounding provocative. It's like telling me you sister and mother is the same person without stating it.
  15. I think that bet had to have been made before the season started to get a payout like that, right? I don't see a date on there but I doubt it. To get the exact scores of two playoff games on a parlay would be ridiculous odds. Marty McFly...maybe?
  16. This. I’m no puckhead, but Gretzky played in the least popular major sport, for a Canadian team, in the western time zone, well before the surges of the 24 sports programming, the internet and social media. The NHL was forced to change the rules of hockey because Gretzky (mostly) and the rest of the Oilers were so dominant on power plays. Gretzky was probably the greatest/most dominant singular player of any team sport in the history of sports. And I don’t even think it’s close. As far as TB being the greatest champion, Bill Russell disagrees. I didn't move to Canada until the late '80s and am not a hockey fan at all but I've had friends tell me that for much of '80s you were not allowed to draft Gretzky at all in most fantasy leagues because his stats so far surpassed everyone else. Not sure if that rings true for anyone who was in a league during that time.
  17. Move the system to an entirely revenue based system. Teams give x% of revenue to the Player's association. Players association determines what each player gets paid. Players earning are no longer based/hindered by the earning of a particular team but on the league as a whole. Players never get traded again because they become too expensive for a team. Front offices can slash head count of administrative staff. Play Ball.
  18. Making my way through this thread I'm realizing - one what an awesome task to take on bukie and I know it's probably been said at least 108 times already but thanks for doing this but that there were also ton of details I'd forgotten. I don't think I would've remembered that '16 was Contreras' first year. I forgotten about Szczur' and a couple of the other bit players. BUT mostly it just reinforces to me how much I'm going to miss Javy on the team. :bye: Shouldn't this thread be pinned somewhere or maybe a random highlight should play every time we log on to the board - at least until the next title!
  19. I like how Frederick tried to Rizzo the ball into his back pocket but hiss ass was too horsefeathering fat and it wouldn't fit so he had to carry it.
  20. Harrison Bader is a tool with stupid hair with no neck. That is all.
  21. I casually clicked on the stats page and found this - someone should send Tank a screen shot for posterity. https://www.espn.com/mlb/stats/player/_/view/batting
  22. That's a loooong look even at full speed LOL.
  23. It's as if he's been a productive but irratic player for his entire career! He's up to 4.4 WAR. What is a little odd is that in his entire time with the Cubs I'm not sure I remember any bad base running - forgetting the number outs earlier this year not withstanding - I'm thinking of taking an extra base or trying to score - he seemed to have that uncanny timing-spidey sense that told him he could make it. There obviously was some but I feel like they were few and far between - however I think I have seen 3 or 4 clips of bad base running in his time of the Mets - getting thrown out at 3rd for the 3rd out, doubled off on a bloop that was easily caught stuff I just don't remember him doing with the cubs. Rose colored glasses maybe.
