  1. Umm Wood is a much better pitcher than Gregg. Even at his worst, Wood's peripherals are better than Gregg.
  2. I don't see a big trade happening. The Cubs have been reluctant to take on new payroll with ownership still in flux. We have little in the minors to offer, and trading one of the few pieces we do have seems shortsighted. It's time for some of the players we already have to simply start playing better. Jeff Stevens, Kevin Hart, Greg Reinhard, and even Aaron Heilman could be quite usefull to teams looking for bullpen help. Jake Fox should entice many AL teams. We also have several AA and below prospects that a lot of teams would be interested in. if we had pieces that could help a bullpen, don't you think we'd be using them for our own bullpen?
  3. I think that's the case for most of our offense. They all have had similar seasons as Fontenot to this point (patience is there but all of them have been incredibly unlucky). Once some balls start falling in, the numbers will improve, runs will start being scored again and we'll start winning some games. Baseball is such a fickle game, though, that there's really not much a team/manager/GM can do in stretches like this and desperation efforts often only worsen the impact. I don't know... I'm really worried about Soto. He came out of nowhere so he could turn back into crap just as quickly.
  4. i heard that jake fox saved the lives of 32 children tonight
  5. wait, what? especially to the cashner part
  6. Fontenot is probably one of the least worrisome guys to me. We saw over the last 2 seasons that he can be doing awful and have awful numbers, then get red hot and pump his numbers way back up. With the pretty good walk and home run totals still there, his overall numbers could get respectable in a hurry. Just needs one nice hot streak. I think it's only a matter of time, and I still think he'll finish the season with an OPS close to .800
  7. It almost seems like he's given up, too. I keep waiting for him to get pissed off in the postgame but every day the losing streak gets longer he just sounds like he cares less and less. "Well uhh... we'll try to a few other things... the pitching was..uhhh.. play...but we need to score more runs". At least show that you still care. Get fired up. I feel like he is totally drained, career wise.
  8. he's not paid like a backup goalie
  9. He'll be here pretty soon to tell us the season is over. umm, it's not? they had a good run, but the wings are just too much, especially without khabibulin. this season was still a huge success. i hope they can find a way to extend it to game 6 so they can at least lose on home ice and get what should be a standing o afterwards for the great season theyve had.
  10. during the regular season he didn't suck. he sucked today hard and i kind of figured he would if he started. he failed just as badly when he faced the wings at wrigley
  11. well, campbell was saying it was dirty because his arm came up...something brian didn't do on the umberger hit. he kept his shoulder down
  12. Only if you want to keep losing games

  14. You are taking pleasure in Wood's struggles...why? I'm not taking pleasure in it. The sig is a reminder that we aren't missing anything in Wood right now You have no idea how he's be performing if he was with us. His stuff has been fine.
  15. well that would have been a lot more fun if they hadn't emotionally taken me out of the game with the meltdown earlier....but still du dududu dududu dudududududud du dudu
  16. A season removed from a season everyone thought was 'the year'...a gazillion injuries...manager making questionable-at-best moves and saying weird things...enigma of a RF wearing #21 and underperforming grossly...impatient fans...what would make you think that?? crappy bullpen, front 2 starters with injury concerns.... they won 89 games in 04 though. i'd gladly take that
  17. eff it, i'm calling a bolland game winner
  18. both chicago teams already imploding
  19. how do they not review the last goal for a high stick? it looked pretty close
  20. if they lay a hand on him it would have been a match penalty
  21. oh hey its dexter after game 2 you said you quit
  22. was only a matter of time with all the bs
