  1. things are getting uugggllyyyy. i think the odds have definitely shifted in favor of the "there will be no season at all" possibility. [expletive] you, nba. good job reversing the momentum right after you finally started gaining the casual fanbase back again.
  2. but not us! it makes me so happy that posts like these are no longer sarcastic.
  3. he'll probably have like a .950 ops or some [expletive]. i've learned to not write off jim thome and david ortiz no matter how dead they seem
  4. anytime you're playing on back to back nights with both games on the road, 3 points is a great result.... regardless of opponent. i'm getting a bit concerned about this team's ability to hold leads, though.
  5. i rode in an elevator with jim edmonds and reed johnson. it was awkward.
  6. yea i was at that TB game. hawks lost in a shootout on the st. louis goal that probably shouldn't have been a goal (it was awesome though)
  7. didn't we have a similar effort against florida last year on the night before the TB game? seems like florida is always a struggle.
  8. robin ventura being given the reins to your team is a terrible circumstance
  9. best case scneario is that we sign one of them, and the other signs with an AL team (rangers?). that would be the trifecta. both st. louis and milwaukee lose an elite hitter, and we gain one.
  10. the brewers won 96 games. how many wins is fielder worth? they should still be good with gallardo/greinke/marcum and a decent offense.
  11. it wasn't until they fired quade that it fully sank in that we have this front office. we go from jim hendry to this? could it have worked out any better?
  12. jim edmonds would never ever sign with the cubs
  13. ok, i've ignored it since it became an "issue", but now i have to know. what is this crane kenney thing even about?i don't live in chicago, and i never ever read anything from the chicago media (or the media in general, really). i check sports site's for information and that's it. i have no interest in reading sports collumns. from what i've gathered while casually glossing over the kenney talk on this board, it sounds like a lot of people irrationally hate him, and then the people on the other side make fun of them for caring so much. my question is, what exactly do people hate him for? i don't even know what crane kenney does. do they dislike him for legitimate reasons, or do they just think he's a dick? i don't get why his name is always brought up and argued about.
  14. that's not unrealistic. pujols was great last year, but he wasn't 1.050 OPS albert, and they still made the playoffs without wainwright. wouldn't the return of wainright offset the .915 OPS or whatever that labert gave them last year? then again, you probably can't expect berkman to duplicate his 2011 season
  15. yea he makes me feel uncomfortable
  16. Don't underestimate N&G. He could make you kill your own family if he wanted to
  17. Tsss...Tss....Well if he's leavin' then he's probably looking to secede or sumthin. Tsss. Explain this weird-ass "tss" thing. it must be an aspergers side effect
  18. Well, I mean I have little interest in him if he's going to cost what I think he's going to cost.
  19. i loved tortorella trashing thornton after jumbo called the rangers soft (after a game where the rangers won 5-2)
  20. Am I the only one who feels better about our chances at Pujols/Fielder now that Aramis is pretty much gone? Like someone else said, if we don't re-sign Aramis AND miss out on Fielder/Pujols, our offense is going to be embarrasingly bad next year. I can see Theo/Hoyer viewing this season as kind of a transitional stage where they try and start setting things up for down the road, but I don't think they're going to let the team tank this year, and that offense would tank pretty hard. I think the fact that they're not spending the money on Ramirez makes it more likely that they plan to spend big on Pujols/Fielder.
  21. The difference is that if/when the replacement(s) tank, we won't be paying them 15 mil to do it. I would have given Aramis 2 years max, and I think he'll probably get 4-5 from somebody else.
  22. Alot of chance probably... they have no other holes to fill, they're desperate for starting pitching, and wilson is the only legitmately good/proven guy on the market. i don't see how they don't offer him AT LEAST 100 million. the yankees number 2 starter in the playoffs last year was freddy garcia. who did they have beyond that? burnett? colon? yeah, they're going to go hard after wilson.
