ricketts needs to just stand his ground. no point on giving up anything of significant value. despite theo being under contract with boston, they still have zero leverage. with the entire shitstorm that has gone on in boston over the last couple weeks, there's no way they make it worse by holding theo hostage. he's ours and everyone knows it. cut the [expletive]
Oh that's right, you are too young to be a part of the original NSBB photo thread. im pretty sure i've looked through that thread, but a lot of the photos were down and a lot of the people who posted in it were people who were before my time
keith law is actually pretty good. and i think most people here would ultimately agree with what he said, considering how excited everyone is about theo. he's not saying they'll trade jackson (or that thew'll need to). he was asked if he would give up jackson for theo if he HAD to. i don't know how anyone could honestly say no to giving up jackson if it was the determining factor in whether or not theo comes here. theo is exciting enough to warrant a 67 page thread (before he's even signed), but we'd throw that away if it meant we'd lose jackson? c'mon
When you brought up the '04 team, I looked for the Todd Walker superman slide, but couldn't find it. Anybody have it handy? Such an awesome moment. Followed by Chip Caray saying "The Cubs have come all the way back!!!!!!" even though they were only down 2-1 going into the inning. Also, remember when Macias tried to duplicate the Walker slide and failed miserably?
nomar coming to the plate in his first AB with the cubs was such an epic moment. then he grounded into a double play on the first pitch, but nobody even cared. didn't he end up having the game winning hit or something on a line drive to left?
For pure, raw excitement about a transaction? Garciaparra is the only comparable I can think of. Non-Cubs division, maybe Hossa. The excitement over Theo is, for me, second only to the day Bill Wirtz died. so morbid, yet somehow justified
the front page of the sports section in the boston herald today is a huge picture of Beckett with the text "BECKETT HAS TO GO" we'll take him too, thanks.
That was real emo drama. I was in full-on panic mode when the Flyers won game 4. I think we all were, but you were the one twisting the knife into our abdomens every night while we tried to convince ourselves that we were okay i look back on that as being fun, but in reality that was not fun at all.
CC has a lot to learn about the art of fake trolling. Kyle needs to school him. His work in the Blackhawks thread during their cup run was unparalleled
i like how the people bagging on Theo criticize him for being bad with big free agent signings, and then they say he only has success because of his payroll. so, which is it?
