  1. Is SoSH the biggest Red Sox forum out there? I'd hope not, because they sound like a bunch of clowns. Most of them are expecting the monetary compensation to be an amount big enough to take a big dent out of Lackey's contract (ha) and I just read a post from a guy saying he wanted Brett Jackson so they could "use him to get rid of Lackey or Beckett's contract".
  2. hollandsworth's mug will now talk about how credible wittenmeyer is
  3. http://answers.bettor.com/images/Articles/thumbs/extralarge/Terry-Francona-tinkers-with-batting-order-as-Carl-Crawford-moves-to-second-61482.jpg yup, they mad
  4. http://live-baseball.net/files/2011/08/wpid-98452706_crop_650x440.jpg u mad, boston?
  5. i love that rosenbloom article where he discounts theo by saying that he hasn't won a world series without the help of a steroid-aided middle of the order. rosenbloom'd
  6. Especially considering that it sounds like Friedman eventually ends up there
  7. Theo: "How do you live with a player who has only 20 HR and 70RBI when he was signed to be a 30/100 guy? It has to be disappointing, right?" It's weird that you seem to understand stuff like this and still think Sandberg would be a good manager. I was going to go further but I don't want to start an off topic argument. Because I do not feel Ryno's comments should be taken as 100% truth in how he would run things (bunting, etc). I think when he says "play the game the right way" only means he expects guys to hustle and act like pros. It's not "comments". That's how he's managed in the minors
  8. scroll down i know he talks about the worst contracts, but he doesn't say anything bad about gonzalez's contract
  9. that wasn't a list of the worst contracts in baseball. it was a list of the biggest contracts.
  10. OK, awful is exaggerating it, but we have substantial money tied up in mediocre to OK players and have a good amount of guys who are overpaid and don't have bright prospects of getting better. but there are zero big contracts that extend past next year. we have bad contracts, but they're all coming off the books.
  11. what awful contracts do they have besides soriano?
  12. wow that guy is really milking his 5 minutes of quasi fame
  13. not sure what this means, but gammons just tweeted it
  14. after this we still get to talk about who iwll be manager. and then we get to obsess about whether or not we'll get prince after that. cubs offseasons are more fun than cubs seasons
  15. it's going to fall through. pretty soon we're going to be hearing about how theo couldn't go through with it and "his heart is in boston", ala urban meyer.
  16. Players don't give a [expletive] about anything but the money. money and being extra famous.
  17. also, having theo epstein as your gm can't hurt in luring free agents. come on prince. i apologize for all the mean things i said back in 2007
  18. if ricketts can seal this, i might start forgiving him for the safari
  19. So the people in this and the previous thread were just trolling? Over the past week, people have talked about the possibility of virtually every one of our valuable assets being involved. I think we're all just losers and have been too excited for the lack of news and had to have something to talk about
  20. or when theo left the sox and then came back like 2 days later
  21. I don't think there's anybody here who actually thinks/thought that they'd give a legitimate return back
  22. No, but Brett Jackson's value at this point is not even in the same realm as Castro's, so that's irrelevent. I can't believe we're talking about Brett Jackson and Andrew Cashner over Theo Epstein. I know our system generally sucks and guys like Brett Jackson seem like Bryce Harper to us sometimes, but we're talking about a guy who would completely change the ideology and thought process of this organization. Honestly, Brett Jackson won't mean [expletive] if we end up hiring a GM who ends up being not-so-good. This organization has needed a mentality overhaul for years, or decades. Theo Epstein offers that immediately, and no other candidate is even close to that safe of a bet.
  23. If Theo stays, would Cherington not become a target? Billy Beane? Andrew Friedman? Hahn? While Epstein is arguably the best at what he does, what he does is not a mystery strategy that no one else has implemented. Don't get me wrong, I want Epstein running this team more than just about anything... but do you think if Epstein were in charge of this team right now he'd be shopping around Brett Jackson? lol if Epstein was in charge we wouldn't be looking for a GM, sooooooo Anyways, all the reports have all been saying that Friedman, Beane, and Cherington (if Epstein stays) won't be on the move. It's likely Theo or hahn at this point, and you're willing to settle for Hahn over Theo because of Brett Jackson? Theo Epstein has the ability to turn this organization around. Jackson does noty.
  24. I just don't see how you can think that Brett Jackson would be more valuable to the Cubs going forward than Theo Epstein would be. I don't even think it's close. And who are these other GM candidate that are similar to Theo Epstein? Rick Hahn? We know very little about this guy. And even the things we do know about him are not based on him actually being in charge. Anybody after Theo would be an unknown. With Theo Epstein, we'd KNOW we have somebody in charge that knows what he's doing. I love Brett Jackson, but the idea that's he's a more valuable asset to the Cubs going forward seems absolutely crazy to me. How long have we been wanting somebody in charge of the Cubs who actually knows what he's doing? Like, our entire lives?
