  1. Why wasn't Campana sent back down after getting picked off first? It seems a major league game is a much worse time to have a lapse than a random AA game whose outcome is completely meaningless. Do you really want to be teaching your AA level guys that the outcomes of their games are meaningless?
  2. Do you really want to be teaching your guys to play scared after a recent call-up? You're supposed to fear losing playing time, not losing a level.
  3. Spicy garlic, but I've never tried Mango Habanero. It sounds delicious.
  4. What's more likely to get them reamed for "lack of institutional control?" That Tressell perpetuated this whole thing or that he was ignorant of (most of) it? Whichever's worse is what I'll choose to believe. By definition, it would seem to be the latter.
  5. I think they can change their minds pretty quickly as circumstances change. Oh, well as long as it wasn't a knee-jerk reaction
  6. Derrick Williams #2? Ew.
  7. Begins June 6th. Considering this game is not worth talking about, anyone want to make predictions on who the Cubs will take and how outraged everyone will be when they make that selection? I know you're kidding, but who could they conceivably pick that would cause outrage? Only scenario I can think of is Lindor with the Bubba and the Bradleys still on the table.
  8. Yeah, all you really need to know about this comes from Bochy's interview, where he blatantly talks out of both sides of his mouth. The first thing he says is "I was a catcher and I understand it's part of the game" and the next thing he says is "Posey is really popular and we really should protect our guys better out there." It rings so false and damage control-y. Same with that Jeter [expletive]. Nobody would have cared if it had happened to a nobody.
  9. Tough call. The Donovan Tate comparisons have been persistent recently, but I think with a full-time commitment to baseball and better coaching, Starling's contact problems might not be as much of an issue. Given his excellent tools across the board, his ceiling is higher than Bradley's, imo. That kind of ceiling is really hard for me to ignore. On the other hand, Bradley looks so much more polished to me. A guy with his stuff and mechanics could conceivably start next season in Daytona and move quickly, especially if his changeup develops as hoped. His fastball and curve are already good enough to make me think he could be a top-flight power reliever if he can't stick at starter for whatever reason. Bradley's stock has been on the rise recently. Given how he, Bundy, and Starling have been doing on draft boards lately, I'm beginning to wonder if any of those three will be available when the Cubs pick. If the following scenario plays out, who should the Cubs pick? 1. Pirates - Rendon 2. Mariners - Cole 3. Dbacks - Hultzen 4. Orioles - Bundy 5. Royals - Starling 6. Nationals - A. Bradley 7. Dbacks Comp. Pick - Signability Pick du Jour 8. Indians - J. Bradley I'm thinking the Cubs would go with Lindor there...which...egh. I'm sold on Lindor's ability to stick at SS, but there have been so many conflicting reports about his current power and power potential that I just can't buy into him as a quality selection for the Cubs at 9. Maybe Bauer or Gray? I'd go Bauer for sure but I bet the Cubs are one of those teams who are thrown off by him. I think the Cubs go Gray over Lindor or Bauer. I don't believe Bauer makes it past Cleveland though. And I can't see Archie Bradley or even Dylan Bundy starting next year at A+. I do agree Starling doesn't display the red flags that Donovan Tate did but the questions on the level of competition he faced and his ability to make contact are concerning. Why don't you think we'd take Bauer there? I certainly would.
  10. I'm done talking about this now. I just want to know who's gonna be available. I'm not even considering Rendon, and I'm starting to wish for the days when Bundy being there wasn't even a pipe dream. Where's the fast forward button.
  11. Nope. Fleita said today he takes the guns out of the park when Simpson pitches. Doesn't want him worrying about it. Not entirely sure what to think about that. The meat head in me thinks that if Simpson is mentally weak enough to let a radar gun bother him that's worrisome. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/04/29/kevin-towers-used-to-mess-with-brad-penny-by-altering-the-radar-gun-readings-in-san-diego/ That's pretty shrewd on Towers' part
  12. I'm not going to sit here and compare Rose to other elite NBA superstars. He's a point guard and there really hasn't been a PG quite like him in recent history. So far he's proven that he has a below average jump shot and a very poor three shot and he wilted in this series. So yes I am a tad bit concerned and I'm especially interested to see if he can improve. He "wilted?" He was stopped by a very good defense because he's the only play-maker on the team. Yes, he did go against great defense in some cases but he also missed many open shots and turned the ball over inexplicably in many other instances. All in all he didn't resemble the MVP he was in the regular season. You're right, he definitely did not play a finally-peaking Heat every game in the regular season
  13. Come on now. I'm not trying to hate. He had an amazing season. And great point guards that are so atheletic can peak very early. Ask Steve Francis and Stephon Marbury. Why would I do that? They have nothing in common with Rose.
  14. Gonna be a tough hurdle to get over though. The Heat are scary and should get better when they can add mid level guys. The Heat are certainly scary going forward. Are they as scary as an improved, more poised Rose with a better supporting cast? I don't know. Unlike you guys I'm not as sold on Rose improving a lot going forward. I just don't see a lot of room to get better. Really? How about shoring up his long-range shot and making better decisions under pressure? He doesn't need to do anything else. And like someone else said, he just needs to play like he's played all season, and not get rattled by some pressure, the likes of which he's never [expletive] seen before.

  16. God bless you rational Bulls fans. That was an unbelievable series, granted a really tough loss. If you don't think the Bulls will come back better and more focused next year, and that Thibs won't learn from his many mistakes, I pity you. That was an unbelievable learning experience for a young, over-achieving team and they WILL compete at an extremely high level for a long time. Really impressed with the Bulls in these playoffs.
  17. Is Blake Griffin dunking on a 9 ft hoop in that commercial?
  18. He better not come back in after this TO
  19. I didn't even sort of expect that to go in. And I agree with Kerr/Reggie. Rose needs to sit for a couple minutes.
