  2. Davis also wasn't very good in the 2nd half last year. It sure seemed like his stuff was diminishing before our eyes. Then he came through bigly in the NLDS so :dontknow: All in all, if he can be had for something like 2 years & a vesting option, I'd be down w/ no complaints.
  3. I'm a little worried that Davis is gonna break soon. Really bummed McGee went back to CO & it appears Nicasio isn't an option.
  4. The safe play is to just assume he was bad (as an ump).
  5. Hoping someone else scoops up Kintzler soon; really not interested in him for the Cubs. I'd rather they go after Joe Smith than him, and would say McGee would be tops on my wish list.

  7. Given the current staff, yeah, I'm pretty "meh" on anyone starting aside from the Q/Hendricks/Lester group. Signing Cobb won't assuage that for me either. Not a huge fan, especially at a > 3 year commitment.
  8. The fix for the Cardinals is simple: jettison at least half of your fanbase. Also, dumping Matheny probably wouldn't hurt.

  10. Yeah, not super-hyped about the idea of spending assets to acquire a rental, especially a positional one. Zero chance Machado doesn't see free agency. Harper or bust for me.
  11. I remember the rationalizing back then: "it's just a sign of respect"; "what's the big deal, you fun-hating PC liberal!"
  12. I specifically remember the bandanas because an idiot friend of one of my cousins bought one when we went to a game at Wrigley back then. We had a conversation about it that ultimately led to me knocking out a few of his teeth. Yeah, I was super mature about it, but dude had it coming by the time it came to blows.
  13. But yeah, all the merchandise was terrible.
  14. I always knew those awful bandanas sold outside Wrigley during Fukudome's time here would come back to bite us in the ass. Well done you horsefeathering racist losers.
  15. FWIW, Law doesn't seem to think the Twins got much of value in return for their Intl Bonus $$ http://meadowparty.com/blog/2017/12/07/klawchat-12-7-17/
  16. Same. Really didn't want to give him 4 years, but I realize that's what the market is for him in all likelihood. If it takes a 5th year, horsefeathers that noise.
  17. The first twitter account is from a regular poster at bleacher nation. He knows as much as my Mom does, maybe less.
  18. I don't think we have agreement on what protest is supposed to accomplish.
  19. "Effecting change" is a tough standard to apply to determine propriety/effectiveness of protest. How much time is afforded protest before judging effectiveness? 6 months, 6 years? As mentioned previously, no substantive protest is popular at the time it happens. Anything not status quo is unpopular (ineffective?) in the throes of it.
  20. The anthem kneel-down brouhaha narrative has been so twisted beyond recognition. The blatant militarization of our sports leagues sickens me. Enter John Kelly with his open contempt for civilians...."Service guarantees Citizenship," indeed.
  21. He's likely a bullpen arm, right? I mean, seems like all he's got is the fastball. None of his secondary pitches seems to be even big league average.
  22. I want the Astros to win because I despise the Dodgers. Doesn't matter that the Cubs lost to the Dodgers.
  23. Go Astros. #NeverDodgers
