Ditto. I see the recent hot streak as mostly a correction for the earlier "bad luck," that, and good defense. We can't keep counting on bloop & seeing eye ground ball singles in RBI situations. Someone not named Aramis needs to pop a 3-run homer more often. -

Paraphrasing a Hendry interview from about a week ago on what deals he's looking to make: "I'm always looking to improve the team, but I also know we have nice pieces here. I'm not going to look to go out and replace Ryan Dempster. I'm not going to go look for someone to replace Ryan Theriot." I know we should always look for improvement, but we're winning and Theriot is doing a solid job both ways and providing some spark into the lineup and clubhouse. He's done just about everything you can ask for and it just doesn't seem like you should reward that by replacing the guy, especially when things are clicking on the field and in the clubhouse. Obviously, Tejada is and always will be the better player, but I just don't think you go out of your way to improve something that isn't really that much of a problem when you have other problems much bigger than replacing a solid #2 hitter. I'm not saying we should go after Tejada, but Hendry is well known for spewing all sorts of misinformation regarding his intentions. I would give no weight to those statements regarding his satisfaction w/ Theriot. -

I agree w/ that. I voted for power when the poll was posted. Come playoffs, having a solid 3 man rotation would be preferred, but b/c of the hole we dug ourselves early, we can't afford to have a black hole as a 5th starter (of course I'm assuming a trade for another starter would require giving up Hill/Marshall)...we need to have a chance to win every game possible the rest of the way.

IMO, no...especially given the starters that are available for acquisition. LOL You have got to be kidding. Just my opinion...who's realistically available that would be a clear upgrade as a SP? I'm 800x confused, you just said that you wanted a starter, but then you said you didn't want one? Sigh... The original question asked was is there any doubt we need a bat rather than a SP. My answer was "no", there is no doubt--meaning: we need a bat, NOT a SP..
