  1. They won't 3 total HRs by next Monday :(
  2. Cliff & DLee doing their best Tony Gwynn imitations....plenty of singles guys, come on, start elevating the ball!! [yes, I know it's not that easy]
  3. I voted Lohan...in fact, she already looks like death warmed over to me...
  4. There's no doubt Braun is very good and is going to be good but, .352 AVG, 1.059 OPS good? When is the league going to catch up to this guy? There hasn't been another Pujols since...well, Pujols.. Maybe Braun is "that guy" who comes along every 6-7 years... :shrugs:
  5. Well, I guess it's almost like Junior is playing for us...as close as it's gonna get unfortunately...
  6. Depends on how well you think Gallagher could do in Marshall's spot. Almost .200 OPS points is a MASSIVE improvement. We can't just look past that fact. I understand that...but is it worth the gamble that you'd be taking in putting a completely untested rookie pitcher into the rotation? I say no. But I understand both sides. Assuming you think the Cubs still have a good shot at the playoffs with a Gallagher starting the rest of the way, you also have to take into account that in the playoffs, Marshall probably doesn't see much, if any, time, while Griffey can very well have a significant impact. If he's healthy...and you can't ignore Griffey's injury history either. I can see the argument either way. I know I'm assuming a lot here, but given how tight both the divisional & WC races look to be, we also can't afford a black hole in the 5th rotation spot either (Wade Miller anyone?). I agree w/ the consensus that there will NOT be any kind of "high impact" move made by Hendry this year.
  7. ---there would have been a mass suicide in Wrigleyville after the poor April/May start.
  8. Pujols is 0-9 this series...Pujols owns Marquis...Thus, Pujols will Blow-up big today.. Cubs win a "shoot-out" 9-8...or not.

Exactly. The answer depends entirely upon how "natural SS" is defined. x3... The original point is based on one person's arbitrary definition of "natural" anyway... A person's who's "logic" doesn't appear to be all that sound either. The fact is, Theriot is playing SS now and that's where he needs to get the job done. Whether that's his "natural" position is immaterial.
  10. I don't understand the first part and can't figure out how you can defend the second part. Ditto--he goes from "this trade sucks" all the logical way to "it was a smart move."
  11. That's Greg Maddux-esqe. Didn't he pitch something like a 82 pitch shutout in Yankee Stadium in the late '90's when he was w/ the Braves?
  12. "You've been racked, and gettin' racked is good!"
  13. Ever notice I wasn't even talking about Murton, my argument is about Theriot because he should be the starting SS, not cedeno. Yes, you brought in theriot to prove how worthless cedeno is, but you started it by mentioning how there's a perfectly good RF wasting away in Iowa. :D There is, and I dont' think Matt is the greatest thing ever but come on, he is most definetely an upgrade over Floyd, however with DeRo's injury I think we need Cedeno hear, as a backup. I don't know why everyone thinks Cedeno is the second coming of Honus Wagner. So we have you being bothered that your point is being misrepresented, and then you go and misrepresent what people here have said. Incredible. Ugh...his logic makes my head hurt.
  14. He's a gamer & a winner......according to Hendry's magic 8 ball & mixed-bag of anecdotes. This was an obviously "blah" acquisition; just wish Soto would've gotten a longer look before deciding he just can't be trusted for the last part of the season. Note to Jim: the deadline doesn't end until 7/31/07, meaning, what compelling reason was there to get Kendall so far in advance of the deadline?
  15. Oooh....the "stripped-down" look in the opening post of today's game thread... This, and the acquisition of Ken Griffey, Jr., may make our offense palatable. Wainwright has been solid, so has Lilly. We'll need to score 6 runs to have a chance tonight. Which is to say, we'll lose....
  16. Not having Comcast, and needing to watch non-WGN/ESPN games on mlb.tv for the past 3 years makes me appreciate Len & BB even more. There are some terrible pbp teams out there for various teams..
  17. yes i can definitely confirm this (him not being liked in philly) To be fair, is there anybody that the Philly fans like? And not just the Phillies either, I'm talking any of their sports teams. Yeah, they even booed Mike Schmidt...
  18. Glad to get a win, but it doesn't change the fact our offense is not so good. And Kendall still sucks...
  19. Z should just start punching our catchers untill Hendry finds a real one Why am I excited about Henry Blanco's bat returning? The human need for hope?
  20. LOL, nice Yeah, I wish they'd have designated "free-for-all" nights or something. It would be cathartic for many of us..
  21. and a guy named Kip Ugh.... It just gets worse.
  22. A guy named "Skip" is gonna beat us... I just threw-up in my mouth.
