  1. Winning this series with zero stakes for the Cubs just makes me despise them. Where the horsefeathers was this when it mattered? Whatever. Just get to the off-season so maybe we'll see some cool horsefeathers happen. Or not.
  2. Yeah Hoerner is a shrimp, needs to hit the weight room. I've been mildly curious whether he could make a conversion to CF? Seems 2b is easy to find in comparison to CF. Just a thought.
  3. LOL at the energy wasted by the Addison Russell backers. So much performative angst for such a mediocre player. Something that was conveniently forgotten while the debates were raging; he is pretty much what he's shown himself to be as a player. It's revealing how loudly some clamored for him after the abuse came to light.
  4. With the lineup mainstays in, Almora hits leadoff or middle of order. In the scrub lineup, he hits 8th. Makes complete sense.
  5. "Moar Addy and Almora" doesn't seem like a wise way to go next year, Joe.

  7. Joe Espada or Carlos Beltran sound good to me. If the Astros and Yankees brain trusts, respectively, like these guys, that's good enough for me.
  8. Ricketts is probably just fine with things. Revenue is streaming in, and will continue to do so as excitement over a young core transitions to mature nostalgia for 2016, when fans can cry "flags fly forever" to their hearts' content while throwing money at the Cubs. I assume the Cubs will continue to be among the tallest midgets by being a top 5 payroll team, under limits set by ownership. I just don't feel great about whether that is enough to address all this team's issues, but I'm also super pessimistic right now, and maybe my outlook changes as we get into the off-season.
  9. Narrator: There was no chance.
  10. Would've won had this game thread been used.
  11. Somewhere, some sick-horsefeathers Pirates fans are arguing "we can't know what he actually did. Such things are unknowable. Now gimme the player who will best help my sportsball team win."
  12. How long til the medical staff realizes they put the boot on the wrong foot? Gotta factor that into recovery time.
  13. Almora is so horsefeathering pointless.
  14. The soul-crushing is so tangible, I just know I can chew on it.
  15. I'm still waiting for Addison Russell to save us.
  16. I don't care. Defense doesn't matter. Really, I'm kidding about the last part. let me have my grief you monster.
  17. My beautiful dong master Jorge...if only.
  18. Two years in a row with reduced offensive production and lowered run differential in the second half of the season. Is the narrative about "second half Cubs" being exposed, or just small sample noise? All I can say is that I'm no longer so certain that the way the FO handles the roster and the way Maddon dishes out playing time is so bullet-proof as previously thought (by me and other fans I know IRL at least).
  19. I look forward to Theo's post-season autopsy and subsequent inertia.
  20. Hmm, so Russell isn't the savior the dream casters were hoping for?

  22. Counterpoint: Totally kidding as I know jackshit about the NFL these days.
