  1. Just as a baseball fan I'd love if the Rockies, Cardinals, and Brewers all ended up tied after 162, which I believe would lead to Rockies at Cardinals, with the winner hosting the Brewers, and that winner going to Arizona for the actual one game playoff. Realistically after the Cubs get through with Milwaukee and St. Louis, neither of them are going to be in a position to challenge Colorado.
  2. http://www.fangraphs.com/wins.aspx?date=2017-09-21&team=Brewers&dh=0&season=2017 Not as good as I thought, honestly. Brewers only got up to 88% favorites after the Avila ground out for the second out in the ninth. Doesn't take Baez getting down 1-2 into account, or Davis going 3-1 on Arcia with the bases loaded. 97.8% to win the division.
  3. Don't know how much there is to 'playoff experience', but wouldn't every metric point to Quintana being our best pitcher going into October?
  4. There's no way schwarber doesn't hit 30 a year for the next decade. What easy power.
  5. FYI, the Cardinals have to lose 3 times in the next 4 days as well to clinch on Sunday Honestly, ending the Brewer's division (and really, season) hopes at Miller on Sunday, and then 24 hours later doing the same thing to the Cardinals, while celebrating the division at that hellhole in front of a 'sell-out' of 22,000 people would be even better.
  6. 95.7% to win the division, 98% to make the playoffs. Win the next three and make me spend my Sunday celebrating in Milwaukee with 30,000 other Cubs fans.
  7. i am starting to have irrational levels of fear of how much jay will play in the playoffs. Yeah I'd be really surprised if he's not in LF or CF for every Scherzer/Strasburg game in the DS. It's going to come down to only one of Happ, Jay or Schwarber getting a start imo. Either Zobrist/Jay/Heyward left to right, Zobrist/Happ/Heyward left to right or Schwarber/Heyward/Zobrist left to right. I don't think Heyward is guaranteed a starter's spot by any means. Against everyone except the toughest righties, I think Willson, Bryzzo, Zobrist, and Baez are guaranteed starters. With Russell coming back and looking strong, you add him to the list, which pushes Zobrist into right. From there, it's two spots for Schwarber, Heyward, Happ, Almora, and Jay. Against a lefty I'd say there's no chance Heyward starts, given how well Almora has hit them. Against a righty it comes down to the matchups...with the way Schwarber has hit over the last month (875 OPS), it's tough sit him for Heyward. Happ might end up being the odd man out unless he can start hitting better....38% K rate over the last month isn't going to do it.
  8. We'll have to include a warning to all those who only show up in October:
  9. When all those Bears thread only people show up here in a couple weeks...
  10. Me, this entire week, quietly failing to figure out how to post gifs.
  11. Alex Gordon, sporting a robust 209/286/307 line this year, breaks the home run record. Fitting.
  12. What's monty's pitch limit here (he asks, assuredly jinxing the no-hitter)? Edit: Duke and Mojo furiously scrolling, looking for some line that involves a number.
  13. You'll get your likes from some people, but I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking you forced this one after seeing the 'follow you into combat' gif.
  14. KB was at Disneyworld all day yesterday, so I guess we should have known he was due for one of his hangover/dehydration days. In case anyone is actually worried, Cubs twitter account doesn't seem concerned:
  15. I know Maddon was talking about how they're going to make Wade available for multi-inning saves from here on out, and Len/JD were talking about this being a test run of some sort, but...extremely weird timing given that it's game one of a big series and our bullpen has thrown a lot of innings the last two days. Please be ok Javy.
  16. I had a pretty good 1:1 ratio on hearts given/received until this winning streak. Oh well.
  17. Almora in center, Happ in right (or second, Zobrist in right)? Might as well give it a shot while Russell is out.
