  1. Games over. He went 1-2 with a double and a walk. Wondered why it started so late. Sadly, it's still the best thing on TV right now.
  2. Not Cubs game related, but Corey Koskie is starting for Canada vs. Toronto on MLB Network. Wow, boring day
  3. Offensively he has done all he can do, but he is going to have to show he can play multiple positions (3B, 1B, LF, RF) with at least average D to make the team. This I realize. I don't think he makes the squad, but should be an adequate midseason injury replacement. Like the power off the bench. Didn't Fox go unselected in the Rule5 Draft this year? Fox has always put up nice numbers in the minors, but not been able to produce in the majors in his limited opportunities. The problem with being on a "win now" team for guys like Hoff, Fox, Dubois, and the recently departed Kroeger is the organization will chose to go the free agent route than give young guys on the job training at the big league level. And that's fine with me as I don't see Jake Fox as anything more than a poor man's Eric Hinske. He does seem to be a solid late inning RH PH if needed though.

  5. Fox really forcing management to take a look at him.
  6. Nice signing, wish Hendry would have made it. Now that the season is starting, the Theriot hate will decline slightly. But I do like the A's a lot in the AL West. Giambi, Cabrera, Nomar, Holliday is a solid offseason. Their SP is very ?able but their bullpen could be sneaky good. They need to get lucky on injuries though. All in all I would say they fall a bit short, but liking them to improve significantly.
  7. the network that snood made fun of helps that too. Love having the network, just hate the people on it.
  8. I would assume that most Big Ten programs are among the highest paying in the country too considering the support and interest.
  9. 2nd season for Beilein I think.
  10. http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a47/madhops_42/suckitbitches.jpg In one of OU's best years ever and a transitional year for UI. I'll take it, especially based on expectations at the beginning of the year. On the other hand, Capel seems to have his crap together and may be able to maintain a solid program at OU, so who knows. Yeah but at least we don't have an ex-Dukie as coach. and it's only a matter of time before a job in the ACC or Big 10 opens up for him. What job in the Big 10 that's likely to open is better than OU? take your pick. Iowa? How is Iowa better than Oklahoma? Indiana? Yea, they're better, but do you think they're gonna fire Crean after one season? Northwestern? LOL nope. Michigan? Ehh perhaps. How long has Beilein been there? I'm thinking at some point OSU will open up. Or Minnesota?
  11. Buford (William?) for OSU is a ridiculous shooter. Seen him against UI twice and a few others I can't remember exactly and he can roll off screens and hit the mid-range jumper with consistency. Gonna make a real solid NBA player; think he has some size too. Kinda reminds me of Rip Hamilton a bit
  12. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/big_league_stew/post/Scott-Eyre-is-the-latest-ballplayer-to-admit-he-?urn=mlb,143663 That sucks, he's more broke than I am. Edit: Whoops, URL fixed
  13. The whole "Sorry, we were unable to process due to high transaction volumes" is really annoying. How about you just don't let me out of the VWR until you're ready and able for me, OK??
  14. Got in once with 36 tabs open. Any games gone?
  15. Not sure if I'm late to the game on this, but did anyone else read that Chris Bosh's #1 choice in 2010 is Chicago? Sweet
  16. Maybe more if JH comes to his senses and trades for him next year. Fixed my statement
  17. Pretty happy he will only be getting approx. 24 AB's @ Wrigley over the next 2 years.
  18. God, Adam Kennedy is terrible. Sucks they have to pay him $4MM. Could see O. Hudson signing with STL, them winning about 12 one-run games vs. Cubs who would have a 15 game greater Pythag.
  19. DeRosa is gone. We'd be replacing Fontenot with Hudson, and I don't see how that's a big enough upgrade to warrant losing a first round pick. Plus, like I said, Hudson couldn't replace DeRosa anyways. With Bradley on your team DeRosa's biggest value becomes the ability to fill in for him when he's hurt....and allow Fontenot to essentially replace Bradley in the lineup. Hudson doesn't do that. Really I think people are just excited by the name. I don't see what Hudson really does for this team at this point. I've never really been enamoured by Hudson as a player, but when I read the Cubs might be interested to him, I thought he'd be a great fit. I am not thrilled (once again) with our MI defense. Adding Hudson to the mix is a great fit. Agree with you here big time. I am not at all thrilled with Theriot @ SS defensively and the addition of a GG-caliber 2B would be fantastic.
  20. They probably just want to make sure they have a player on the roster who, every time he comes to the plate, the announcers can say, "Well, Daryle has a chance to hit one into the river on a fly here!"
  21. Hendry probably could have had his pick of the litter 3 years ago.
  22. I'm actually fairly happy that Cedeno is gone as I have never been a big fan. Including Olson is a whole different story however.
  23. I like it. If nothing else it gives the Cubs more options, which is never a bad thing. Certain Zambrano Dempster Lilly Harden Other Marshall - L Cotts - L Olson - L Samardz - R Wuertz - R Vizcaino - R Gaudin - R Heilman - R Guzman - R Hart - R Gregg - R Marmol - R That's a solid amount of depth. Maybe Guz or Hart goes in return off the possible MLB guys? I still think Chad Gaudin is going to be a big part of this staff and is overlooked.
  24. Unfortunately for R. Harden, R. Hill is outta the league.
