  1. He hasn't even hit his prime years yet. Perhaps he could benefit from Gerald Perry's advice? I don't know, I'm not big on acquiring him either, I'm just trying to be optimistic. He turned 27 this fall. Most agree prime years are generally somewhere between 26-29. If a hitter isn't capable of producing by the time he's 26/27, I'm not sure how much realistic hope there is for him to produce in his later 20's. Right jersey, especially when that hitter has regressed rather than progressed over the past couple seasons. I would have taken him 3 years ago probably.
  2. I am very adamant about NOT acquiring Teahen. I have seen a fair amount of him over the past couple seasons and really have no reason to believe he is going to make it as an average (much less above-average) ML'er. The approach is there, the talent isn't. He's fading fast IMO.
  3. Ehh...don't really like either player, but at least one has experience closing. Both have control issues that would have/will annoy me.
  4. ibanez is only athletic in the sense that he is a professional athlete. Here's to hoping Hendry can "wow" the Marlins for Hermida because, there's no benefit to wasting money on Ibanez. ibanez is second on my list after hermida...he has solid numbers and would really bring some solid production to the lineup...i don't understand the dislike for ibanez His age. i can understand that, but who else would you rather have besides him? realistically Brad Hawpe if available
  5. Let me call Jim and find out for you.
  6. Just say no to Teahen.
  7. Has one of your trade scenarios ever actually happened? I really would like to know.
  8. Jim Hendry will not be trading Soto this offseason.
  9. This is mostly hyperbole, but... Wouldn't Adam Dunn pretty much put the Cubs in the same position they are now? He will come over, hit 40 HR's, then go cold when we need him the most in the playoffs. Our lineup and rotation are good enough to get into the playoffs. I am a big fan of upgrading the middle of the diamond with some guys who are athletic and just solid baseball players.
  10. Got home about an hour ago but needed time to vent. Only positive I took from the game tonight was meeting Fred and Yeti for the first time. Haven't read the forum, but here's my take (I'm sure it's much of the same): 1. I've been saying for the past 2 days that Fontenot should be in the lineup if at all possible. The guy has been a beast and there when we needed him all season. If there's any possible 20% chance that DeRo could play right (which, by the sound of Lou's postgame he could have) then why the hell wouldn't he be? Hell...put Reed out there if nothing else. Sidenote - How did Fukudome not catch that ball that Edmonds got hurt on? 2. 1 player showed up to play tonight. I feel bad for him. Did anyone else think Lou should have taken out Z earlier tonight? And then, giving him his AB in the bottom of the 5th? Come on. 3. We really needed to score in the first inning. That was a total dump we took on that great early opportunity. 4. Derrek Lee, Mark DeRosa, Ryan Theriot and Aramis Ramirez...you are professionals, right? 5. Aramis Ramirez...earn your money buddy. I will say the same for Sori to an extent, but we know and understand that he's a streaky hitter. We depend on Aramis though. 6. Get some balls Lou. 7. RANT: Please stop bringing your loser girlfriends to the playoff games. And stop selling your tickets to people who have never been to a game before. If I want to vent and voice my displeasure, I'm going to do so. If you don't like it, go to hell. I don't like paying good money for season tickets and then have to listen to you chant "Fu-ku-do-me" when we are losing 9-1 in the 8th inning. 8. That being said, I like the matchup Saturday and we can really only go game by game now. No sense looking or planning ahead.
  11. I second that vote Where is he going to play? DeRosa can't play right. Can't because of the injury? I still take my chances. And this quote makes it sound as if Lou might as well...From the Trib: Fukudome started in right field and batted second Wednesday night but went 0-for-4 in the 7-2 loss to the Dodgers, which may cause Piniella to change his mind Thursday. "I'm not sure," he said afterward. "Let's wait until [Thursday] and see." This just hours after he said Fukudome would start every game.
  12. Should be interesting to see if Lou scraps his Fukudome plan and starts Fontenot tonight. I, for one, vote yes to Font.
  13. Heading over now....let's seriously kick some A. Fred, I see you in the forum....are you going to any playoff games? I will be in 404 for all of them.
  14. Trying to stay up as late as possible so when I wake up it's almost game time. Also...talked to Reed Johnson for a minute on Michigan Ave. outside Loyola's campus yesterday and he said he was totally pumped for Wednesday. Pretty obvious, I know, but it just got me even more excited.
  15. Lou said Fukudome will not be starting. So... Sori Theriot Lee Ramirez Soto Edmonds DeRosa Fontenot Dempster
  16. I had a cutting sensation in my elbow about 7 years ago. 15 months later it was, "Thanks for the TJ surgery Dr. Andrews."
  17. I have yet to see in person anything from Gaudin that makes him any better than Wuertz. Granted I don't get to see all of the games but Gaudin seems pretty mediocre. His command has been off since being recalled. You know how Lou feels about the hot hand and walks.
  18. Does everyone assume Gaudin will be on the playoff roster? Cause I'm thinking the pen is going to be: Wood Marmol Howry Cotts Marshall Samardzija Marquis
  19. Yeah...bet a lot of bars are jumping at the chance to voluntter for that one.
  20. Me too. Especially when I'm like #1,000,000 on the season ticket waiting list Exactly! Not only do they get Cubs season tickets, but they also get a ton of playoff tickets. Lucky bastards. I'll get mine one day. :pig: Yeah, I have nights/weekends and I can't believe they are giving us tickets to like every game. No wonder they are so hard to get through the lottery.
  21. Mizzou will buy them (so he can resell them) You betcha! I love how people consistently single me out for this when plenty of others on this site do the exact same thing. I'm just not afraid to be vocal about it, I guess. If presented the opportunity to make $500 by spending an hour buying and selling baseball tickets, you're damn right I'll do it. Since I'm back in school, I basically covered my summer expenses by re-selling tickets this year.
  22. Trib made it sound as if Geo would be playing very minimally these last 6 games.
  23. 3 rejections over here as well. Fortunately, I already have tickets. Fred, are you going to be patrolling 404?
  24. The Cubs wouldn't like that, they have to leave for NY.
