    If they were to trade Dempster & Garza (which I am perfectly fine with BTW.....actually, I'd prefer it) they would certainly be ready to make a signing or two or trade in the offseason for a ML starter. Garza for a huge contract here, no thanks. I like him but just think we're probably better off moving in another direction right now. 1) Hamels 2) Sammyzija 3) Maholm 4) Someone? 5) Wood Not great, but would cost about the same as Garza/Dempster, be close to as good and have some AA or better prospects in the wings.

    Any Castro trade with Arizona would have to start with Justin Upton and include at least one, if not two, of Bauer and Skaggs. And then a couple more low level pieces. I really don't think so. Upton/Bauer >> Starlin

    My (unsubstantiated) guess is weed. What a silly thing to flag someone for. Unless there is an MLB rule that bans anyone who smoked in college or HS. ??? Wouldn't you be suspended if you get caught with weed in your system in a drug test under MLB policy? If so, it's not a silly thing. No, it's a ridiculously silly thing because that's what 17-20 year olds do. They drink, they experiment with drugs, they want to sleep with hot chicks, etc. As long as they can handle themselves like normal humans, it really shouldn't be an issue. "Oh ARod, there's a little weed in your system, sorry we aren't going to draft you #1." Nope, don't think that's the way it's working.

    ESPN did their little 10 years draft, drafting a player based on how they will do over the next 10 years. They had 30 experts and 30 fans pick their top 30. Castro went 9th for the experts and didn't get picked by the fans. It was hilarious. Castro probably doesn't look sexy to the common fan. They see the 10 HR and 66 RBI mid to high .700's OPS and supposedly terrible defense and ignore his age, position and hitting ability. Not to mention to expected increase in power. And he was never in the minors long enough to be a top 5 prospect on lists, etc. therefore limiting his exposure. And all the major league teams he's been on have sucked once again therefore limiting his exposure.

    Perhaps unsurprisingly, the good people at GRB were not very receptive to my requirement of Shelby Miller, Oscar Taveras, and David Freese for Castro. Pass. Miller/Carlos Martinez/Taveras. Eh, screw you Cardinals, throw in Wong too. God, trading him to the Cardinals would suck and would never happen.

    Just wondering, but wouldn't more people rather have Trout straight up than Castro? I was thinking the same thing.
