    Not to be a dick, but that perspective is pointless. No use comparing guys on the open market to a guy locking in early with his team. It's pointless in the sense of comparing the signings, but not so pointless in the sense that each team is still paying on average $25MM/year of their respective budget per player.

    Not done, but I don't think there's any way we are going to offer Ubaldo, Garza or Santana what they want. Maybe we get lucky on a 1-2 year deal with someone? Maholm? I'd take Hammel? Don't want Baker? Meh

    I wanted Tanaka, but after seeing the final numbers I have a feeling we aren't gonna be that disappointed in a few years.

    I never really thought we were going to get him. He probably made a good choice since Self develops big very well. That said, that was some pretty classless crap the way he did it. Losing Quentin hurts us a lot more I think. That was the perfect guard for what Groce wants to do. Agree, Snider hurts far more. Team should still be really decent next year though: Abrams/Tate/Starks Rice/Nunn/Cosby/LaTulip Hill Colbert/Black/Paul/Finke Egwu/Morgan

    Who cares if he got more opportunities? It's normally not how much you know but rather who you know. If you care so much, I suggest you come up with a great idea, make a billion dollars and give it to your kids.

    I have ZERO issue with not giving him a NTC. Apparently you do? A little, but I've been pretty unimpressed with the numbers floating out about the Cubs' side of things. I wonder how serious he would be about the NTC if the money was more realistic. I don't have a huge problem with trading him at this point. Whatever, we suck and we don't seem to want to not suck anytime soon. But being unrealistic about trade demands is probably going to make us feel really good about ourselves but not actually do anything positive. Yeah, you're probably right.
