  1. Same. Before he even threw it I was hoping he would just eat it. Just seemed like a very high risk attempt.
  2. Counterpoint Times recording final out of WS for the Cubs: Paul Blackburn - 0 Mike Montgomery - 1
  3. Golden State isn't thrashing Boston if that's the finals matchup. Golden State is good, but they're not what they were a couple years ago and Boston is solid. I could see them thrashing Miami but part of that is due to Miami's health.
  4. When my wife and I went to Chicago in 2014, I remember telling my wife Junior Lake wasn't any good. Then the third game we were at he hit two HRs in the game. Of course he only hit 17 HRs in his career so I was right, but in that moment, I looked quite dumb.
  5. Son with two goals to take the Golden Boot lead! Hell of a season he’s had.
  6. Did not expect both City and Liverpool to not be winning midway through the second half today.
  7. How many runs have they scored total in the first four innings this year? I ask because they scored 26 runs in the first four innings of those three games against Pittsburgh. I know it's not totally fair to just take out three offensive outbursts, but I'm just curious as to what percentage of those runs in the first four innings were in three games. We are still early enough in the season that 3 outlier games can affect the overall numbers. If the runs were evenly distributed in those three games, the Cubs would have only gotten 18 in the first four innings rather than 26.
  8. Elsewhere at the bottom, Burnley ties bringing them level on points with Leeds with a much better GD. So Leeds has to better Burnley’s result on Sunday to stay up.
  9. Everton comes from 2-0 down to win and secure being in the EPL next year. Thank goodness for Newcastle because Everton is going to be in no condition to play in 3 days. Arsenal should slaughter them.
  10. Out 6-8 weeks with an oblique strain.
  11. Given the GD should really only need a draw. That said, Arsenal please roast Everton so Leeds can have a better shot at safety and the dream of getting to see Pickford react to getting relegated stays alive. Nooo Everton has to stay up. I'd be pissed. Hopefully they can take care of business on Thursday and then the weekend results won't matter. If that Sunday game matters for Everton, their best bet might be to try and keep it 0-0 for the first half and hope Spurs go up like 4-0 on Norwich so Arsenal knows their done.
  12. Given the GD should really only need a draw. That said, Arsenal please roast Everton so Leeds can have a better shot at safety and the dream of getting to see Pickford react to getting relegated stays alive. You’re right. For some reason I was thinking Spurs were only a point up.
  13. Thank you Newcastle! Now Spurs just need to beat an already relegated Norwich to get 4th.
  14. Considering they lost 2 of their 3 home games in the series, I’m not sure them not having home court mattered all that much. maybe this is nothing, but it seems like it matters a lot in game 7. i can't imagine the bucks getting blown out like that at home in a game 7. Maybe they don’t get blown out but Boston was pretty clearly the better (mainly due to health) team in the series. Do they lose by 28 at home in Game 7? Probably not. But they could have lost by 13 like they did in Game 6. The Bucks might have lost that series with Middleton too but they probably would have been favored to win regardless of where Game 7 was played.

  16. When it comes to the 2022 Cubs, that’s a very low bar.
  17. [tweet] [/tweet]
  18. What do we need Rizzo for when we have Frank Schwindel aka Nelson Cruz 2.0. I mean sure, he’s not slugging .613 like last year but he’s still at .543. That’s respectable. Oh wait, that’s his OPS this year.
  19. Memphis is obliterating Golden State tonight. They’re up 52 after 3 quarters. The difference is Memphis has 14 more offensive rebounds than Golden State and has only 4 turnovers to 20 for the Warriors.
  20. That’s a hell of a fake rally.
  21. I meant more from the National media side. Anytime one of these programs that’s been good in the past but has been struggling starts well, there’s the “Are they back?” conversations. I know it’s hasn’t been but it seems like it happens almost every year with Texas. I know it’s happened with Miami also in the past.
  22. Texas 83-67 Nebraska 81-68 That’s hilarious. The main difference is a wider range of results for Nebraska. They’ve won 10 games twice and 9 games four times in that span but also had a 3 win season and two 4 win seasons (I’m excluding 2020’s 3-5 record). Texas had only 1 10 win season and 1 9 win season but won at least 5 games every year. It’s too bad they don’t have a decent game this year before they play Bama. Would have been funny for them to have a good 1st win to get people talking about them being back only for them to get tricked by Bama.
  23. 22 runs total in the last 12 games since scoring 21 in one game.
  24. This is going to hurt when Liverpool come back to win this.
