  1. Were you joking about preferring he hit it in Oakland? Because he hit 714 in Oakland and a majority of the crowd cheered him.
  2. Just like another Ramirez owned the Cubs on Saturday.
  3. Why did he only give Ryu one chance to start? Obviously he ignored the fact that the wind was blowing out today. Guzman and Hill each had 4 starts so there is no reason that Hendry should be sending Ryu back down after 1 start. Obviously it was worse than any of the starts Guzman and Hill had, but it's still just one start. At least give the guy a chance to redeem himself. I think the original plan was to only start him once in place of Wood. That makes sense because the Cubs have an off day on Thursday. But after that the Cubs play 11 games in a row. Who is going to be the fifth starter then? Prior isn't going to be ready by then and Rusch shouldn't be starting. So who takes the fifth starter spot then?

  5. He really hasn't done anything to justify his spot in the pen. Then again, we have a boatload of players who are not justified to be on this team. You mean, besides being a decent reliever(with peripherals that suggest improvement) in 75 innings at the major league level last year and completely dominating AAA this year? He's had 4 outings this year for crying out loud, and only 2 of them were bad. The latter part of your statement is hardly a ringing endorsement. The point is that his two demotions were kneejerk reactions to poor outings. Every reliever has poor outings, and this year we've been sending the message that one bad performance gets your bags sent to Des Moines. Wuertz was a good middle reliever last year, and his strikeout rates and lack of contact made on him in general made him a good candidate to be even better this year. He's been great at Iowa, we should just let him pitch out of the pen instead of rotating him through with the likes of Novoa and Aardsma. Wuertz definately deserves to have a chance to pitch without having to worry about getting sent down if he gives up a run or two. He had a solid full year in 2005 as well as a decent half year in 2004. He's pitched all of 4 2/3 innings this year. If you have one bad outing with so few innings pitched it's not going to be a good indicator of how you have pitched overall.
  6. Agreed. I don't think the timing matters. Like TT said, do it right after the appeal process is done.
  7. He carried my fantasy team this week. He's very good. Vladimir Guerrero single handedly helped me get to and win my fantasy league in 2004 when he won the MVP. He was absolutely ridiculous in September and October.
  8. If you didn't vote we might have seen a shutout. Sort of like Cubs games this year eh?
  9. Why are the Cards hesitant? Don't they know that because they are the Cardinals they can just insert somebody into Carpenter's spot in the rotation and that guy will pitch well. Also, Carpenter will not have a serious injury and won't miss any more time than expected. In fact, he'll probably miss less time than expected.
  10. At least one home run in his last six games and 7 total in that span, 9 in the last 8 games and 10 in his last 10 games. WOW.
  11. Any solution that doesn't include the words "Glendon Rusch" is fine with me.
  12. Nobody has voted for Dusty yet.
  13. That's two creative losses in three days.
  14. Wow you're being generous. 6 runs for the Cubs? We just used up 10 games worth of runs today. Literally.
  15. Wasn't the wind blowing out today also?
  16. Fortunately I won't have to watch this because I have to work tomorrow.
  17. And that's the key. When looking at the whole career of a player wins are not overrated because, like Roast said, it takes a great pitcher to keep getting 15-20 wins year after year.
  18. Those guys can't do any worse than the players we have been sending out for the last month.
  19. I think Ron Artest might have a little input on this topic.
  20. Does anybody over in the White Sox ever think about what they say, before the say it? Kenny Williams just proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is an idiot. Sure, Kenny...MLB could have suspended MB the day after the INCIDENT, but MB would have still appeal the decision, which means...Barrett would have still play the game, your friggin, mental midget. Apparently, Williams believes in the "he's guilty because he is a Cub, so he shouldn't get an appeal" theory. Anybody else think....that the White Sox won the WS DESPITE Kenny Williams? Yes, they did, but that had more to do with the bad (or at least neutral) moves that he made than it did with his being a friggin moron, which he is. [major rant]Oh and what's this "with our luck" crap? Kenny, you just traded for a guy who hit 7 homers last year and for all we know could've been one of those token post-steroid guys, and now he's going to hit 60. Jose Contreras, at the age of 65, is having one of the greatest runs of pitching in history. Your bullpen pitchers are all having their 2nd straight career years. AJ Pierzynski is hitting 50 points above his career average. Your closer, a former bar-fight denizen, is now one of the best in the game. Everyone you trade away either hits under .200, has an ERA above 9, or runs headlong into iron fences anymore. Carlos Lee is the only recently removed former White Sox that is having any kind of success at the big league level that I can think of. I have personally never seen a home run hitter get as many gopher balls to hit as Paul Konerko does (this was the case before Thome got there). Everyone you play seems to forget how to execute, as in the last two years I have seen more blown scoring chances against your team than I have even seen out of the Cubs, and that is saying something, my friend. You want "with our luck"? Watch the Cubs for a while.[/major rant] Now, if Kenny had made a snide remark about the fact that the Cubs have no chance of beating the Tigers anyway, thereby screwing up the Sox' chances, this would have been somewhat humorous. [applause]Awesome rant.[/applause]
  21. Glavine has 283 and is currently 8-2 on the year. If the Mets continue to have a good team Glavine will have a chance if he pitches next year and doesn't get hurt. Even if he ends this year with a modest 15 wins that puts him at 290 going into next year. I think he gets it if he sticks around.
  22. Overall, I've been impressed with Marshall so far. He's had a couple rough starts, like any young pitcher will, but he's shown the ability to get out of jams. I would say he's going to have a bright future, but he's on the Cubs so we should take bets on how long it will be before his first DL trip. I have 3 months.
  23. But we know that will never happen under Dusty's watch.
