  1. \:D/ =D> \:D/ If this was a serious injury, I wouldn't be doing this.
  2. If we sweep the Cards I would be surprised if Hendry didn't extend Dusty on Monday.
  3. With Gopher Ball Glendon on the mound, I don't think 5 runs will be enough.
  4. At least you get to watch the game. Out here, FOX showed the Giants game earlier at 10 and isn't showing the later game. Since the game is a "national broadcast", I can't even watch on MLB.TV.
  5. I don't think it would have mattered. The Cubs would have had a runner on second with one out, Dusty would have probably bunted with Glendon anyway and Pierre would have grounded out. We don't get a run that inning even if Jones doesn't get thrown out at third.
  6. Would you have rather had the Cavs play the Heat in the second round? I don't think the Cavs would have done any better against the Heat than they did against the Pistons. Although a LeBron-Wade series would have been highly entertaining.
  7. Not to me, it's not. Perez AB R H 2B 3B HR TB RBI BB SO BA OBP SLG OPS batting 2nd 18 3 7 1 0 0 8 2 0 1 0.389 0.368 0.444 0.813 Only Neifi can have a lower OBP than BA. ;) how is that possible? Sacrifices So if he sacrifices the at bat doesn't get factored in to the BA but it does to OBP? What about SLG?
  8. I don't have a problem with either interleague play or the DH. I don't think the NL should adopt the DH though because like somebody else said, it makes them different. We just so happen to be in a phase where the AL has the advantage over the NL. Look at the NFL: Super Bowls III - XV the AFC won 11 out of 13. Super Bowls XVI - XXXI the NFC won 15 out of 16. Super Bowls XXXII to XL the AFC has won 7 out of 9. League's go through trends. The teams in the AL are trying to keep up with the Yankees and Red Sox right now and so the good players are going to the AL. The same thing has been seen in the Western Conference for the past few years when the Kobe-Shaq era was in full force. It will turn around all in due time.
  9. I'm pulling for the Mavs to win tonight but I think the Suns will pull this one out at home before Dirk squashes them in Game 7 in Dallas. GO MAVS!!
  10. Basically they rated Dusty the best baseball player to ever wear number 12 because there were 8 football players on the list and John Stockton. I am by no means an expert on numbers players wear, but I'm sure there has to be at least one other baseball player that wore number 12 that was better than Dusty Baker.
  11. Don't worry, Gopher Ball Glendon is a batting practice tossing lefty.
  12. Mariners SHOULD HAVE KNOWN about Beltre being a "contract yr" kind of player. Yet, they still grossly overpaid for Beltre. Now Sexson, his season is a surprise. I agree completely. I also changed the $15.9 mil to the correct value of $25.9 mil.
  13. Mulder will own us like all leftys do. I get the feeling that Rusch will have more to say about the outcome of this game than Mulder will.
  14. Does that mean we can't discuss Sidney Ponson either? Zing. Good one Vance.
  15. Hopefully Prior will show some improvement in this start.
  16. Let's just say that a lot of your quotes have now become signatures. I don't remember writing any of this. God, I was obnoxious. Absolutely hilarious. Like ndistops said, thank you OMC.
  17. A .317 OBP is absolutely terrible. Jacque is doing just as much, if not more, than should have been expected out of him. Currently he's on pace to post his highest BA since 2003, his highest SLG since 2002 and his highest OPS since 2002. Like srbin84 brought up, if he ends up with the 31 HR, and 95 RBI's he's on pace to put up, both of those will be career highs. You want to complain about OBP, complain about Ronny Cedeno who is walking even less that Jones this year and isn't even close to Jones in the power numbers. There are bigger fish to fry here goony. Ronny Cedeno makes the minimum and is playing a position where offensive success is a bonus. Jones is making $15M over 3 years and plays a position where above average offense is essential. His long term presence hamstrings us in any attempts to upgrade the offense because he takes up a position where helpful talent is much more readily available. Cedeno needs to be held accountable, for sure, but not so much as Jones does, as the Cubs have much more to lose if Jones tanks than if Cedeno does. We were discussing OBP not salaries. Goony criticized Jones's OBP and I stated that Ronny was worse. That's all. Why the need to bring up salary? I don't know what MLB you are watching, but shortstops are expected to contribute more than they used to. I'm not saying that all shortstops need to put up Tejada numbers but Ronny isn't doing anything at the plate.
  18. Not sure what happened to the last one so I'm starting a new one. Predictions: Detroit and Phoenix both win their respective game 6's.

  20. He's been better than this indicates, but his ERA is above 5 right now. I don't see anyone other than Hanley picking up any significant vote totals unless Marshall gets his ERA below 4. I agree. The starts against San Francisco and Florida (the second one) really screwed up his ERA.
